Let's get something straight...modern feminism has nothing to do with making things better for women. If it did, they'd be clamoring about sharia law. Feminism is now not much more than hatred of men...preferably white men.

I'll always be a gentleman. It's how I was raised (by my mom). I was helping the moms and female teachers load their luggage on one of our school field trips the other day. All of them were at least willing to accept my help - except one. I stood by and watched her grunt and wrestle a huge bag up a flight of stairs. She's the only single lady of the bunch.

Men and women are different. It's beautiful and should be celebrated. We really compliment each other.

When I was teaching and the school carnival was held, the men teachers set up the booths and did the heavy lifting. The women teachers did the lighter stuff like decorate the gym, etc. It worked, and no one complained that it was sexist. I like my car door and other doors being opened for me. But you know good manners are good manners no matter who you are. If a man is carrying a heavy load, I'll open the door for him. That's the way is should be.

Unfortunately some women thought that politeness and caring were signs they were not capable of doing things for themselves. So instead of just doing it, a whole movement was started.
Don't get me wrong, equal pay for equal work is not a frivolous thing it is the right thing. Equal opportunities and equality in all thing is a right to be denied no one. it is the "common" curtesies that have died out. Holding doors, assisting with coats etc. All of the small things that go with being a true "Gentleman" (old school term).

I have a lot of fun with this issue. Actually I was given two sons, no daughters, but I do have some proxy daughters. I don't understand what happened to cause young ladies to want to give up chivalry. And, in the 60's we started getting equal pay for equal work. I was appointed to the salary committee where I worked and it was 'all of me' against 9 guys. I won! Had the backing of the boss man. Fortune 500 company. He appointed me. So I had the biggest vote.

In college I refused to be drawn into the "women's stuides" baloney. I liked the politeness of men opening doors. By the same token, I never let a door lam if a man was behind me. It is called being courteous, which should be gender blind. I actually called a yuppie guy a
jerk", when he walked by an old trying to load her groceries with difficulty.I then helped her get them into her car. My husband would have helped her in that situation. We should forget "movements", which are usually made up by some extreme goofballs. Wonder if the same young women would allow the father of their child to be part of an abortion discussion, or just ignore his feelings?

I've yet to understand where the gender inequality is in modern-day America.

We had a "feminist" unit last year in my English class. What about feminism has anything to do with literature? We ended up watching videos about the photo-shopping in magazine covers, reading about the mythical "gender pay gap," etc.

Sometimes the movement makes me glad I'm a girl—because at least I'm allowed to speak on the matter—but other times I'm ashamed to be grouped in with that radical bunch. They only make themselves out to be what they claim they aren't: emotionally unstable, lonely, and extremely dependent women.

There's a simple explanation for this. When it comes to the various women's movements.. if you're Male you're wrong.

I love men! You are strong! I know this, especially when I have to weed-eat my patio around the pool! That weed-eater is a monster. But there are lots of things to recommend the men and I can't think of a single reason why anyone would think 'if you are Male, you are wrong!' I find men interesting and entertaining. I'm not really interested in women's topics like cooking (my kitchen is for re-sale value only in my home), I don't sew. I don't quilt. But I do write grants and books. Successfully. My interests are fishing, travel, politics, the stock market, education, and people. The men I know are interested in those things also. Never boring!

A long time ago, in the 60's, I read about men's complaints that women who wanted to do certain things, like get into politics, expected men to open doors for them, etc. I don't go around expecting any such thing. If a man chooses to behave thus "chivalrously", I appreciate it, and I thank him. But I don't get angry about it if he doesn't.

At work, I was in an elevator. A business man jumped on smoking a cigar. I quickly pushed the button for the next floor and he jumped off. I was pregnant and gagging! He tracked me down and apologized until I was embarrassed. The 60's!

No one less than Meryl Streep has stated objection to the ridiculous characterization of "toxic masculinity." She's not exactly a conservative figure, but she recognizes the great loss to civility by the demeaning of respectable masculine behavior.

Human females are smaller and weaker than their masculine cohorts, and they bear the pain of childbirth, and most of the child rearing responsibility. It is therefore logical that their masculine companions should respect their enormous achievement and sacrifice, and make every effort to defend them when necessary. Neither the respect nor the defense is motivated by masculine ego, although young men should be taught they should be proud that they dutifully act on those impulses, and intelligent women should show appreciation for their efforts.

Thank goodness that some women have become conscious of what they have lost when the idiots of the new feminism have belittled and demeaned men who hold doors open for women. Restoring respect for each other in their natural roles will do much good for both men and women.
