    Our Dobrien is an optimist.

    Yup, it is good news. Her pleading with the EU for favorable exit terms could not work.

    Britain's conservative party is conservative in the old bad sense of the word, part of the old 'we know best' class. True when comparing with the Labour/Socialist/Marxist/statist/pro-Islamist opposition party under Corbyn, a weak recommendation.
    I rather like Boris Johnson who could do a Thatcher on the Conservatives,
    but I would vote for Nigel Farage who leads UKIP, more all round sensible.

      The problem is that she created an unworkable exit plan in the way she couched the borders with Ireland. She created the downfall of her own plan - it was never intended to actually work.

        I am tired of this old trick. Blaming the other side for what you are doing. These people are beginning to bore me? Can't Democrats recall any history at all? They sound like George Wallace, Drunken Senator Byrd, LBJ, FDR, all the mean old men who wanted a 'plantation mentality' to rise again! My word, are we back in the 60's? That wasn't our best years. I much prefer this era, I lived through that one.

    Party time? Could this be related to POTUS's visit coming, and maybe May didin't want to answer some hard questions? like "Who the f@@K do you think you are spying on a US Presidential candidate, them making crap up and giving it to the other side to try a coup?" I am sure that he will not be such a nice politician and all smiles, although, it may very well suit him to be all nice, warm and fuzzy, and leave them guessing when the other boot will drop on their necks. Declass, Declass, Declass.....

    I don't understand why there has to be a deal for Great Britain to get out of the European Union. Can't the British just send them a Declaration of Independence, and get out?!

      That is the important point, the UK could just declare- we are out. However with a complex arrangement there are advantages for agreement. An agreement could be the best option for both parties, But one party, the EU, has objectives other than a smooth transition in this case, they/it wants to send a message to other nations who think they are worse in than out. The UK's Teresa May has made a serious error in negotiation in not being clear that if a reasonable agreement is not reached, then there is the no-deal option.
      My interpretation is that she wanted to stall and smother the exit.

      They don't want to be harmed by tariffs and are trying to negotiate a replacement for that aspect of the EU. If they can't, they are still better off independent and trading more with non-EU countries. But if they don't get rid of their own socialist-statist premises it won't matter.

    I am not sure I trust what the "people" of the UK have become. They have become so adulterated with Orwellian group think of the EU one world order. It is a dangerous mix.

    You and your friends are in a Burger King at 2am, and you want to leave. You take a vote, 6 out of 10 agree to leave. One of the 4 says they will go talk to the manager...

    And comes back 3 months later and says "Okay, it will cost us 4 billion EU, and we have to stay in the dinning room for a few more years..."

    UK made a big mistake getting in bed with the EU. They thought they would get a lot of freebies from the other countries. Instead, they got a whole bunch of worthless migrants from syria. Such a deal.

    She must have pissed off the establishment. I am not sure what she did, but they revolted against her.

    If the rules were the same here in the USA, Trump would be OUT in a second. Fortunately, the rules here are NOT the same as in whats left of the socialist mob-rule UK.

    PM TM has always been a remainer. She has systematically got rid of most true leavers in her cabinet (behaved in a way that made them resign). She has been "negotiating" with EU counterparts who all desparately want UK to remain (big financial contributors). Little wonder her so-called deal is a quicksand trap for the UK.
    Hope they can get a real leaver believer in the top spot now!

      I was so glad when the British people showed enough sense to vote to leave the EU and not to allow their blood to be sucked any more that way. I hope they have the strength to stay with that decision. And if worse comes to worse, I hope they have the courage to send the EU a document, stating, more or less, "When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands that have joined them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth that separate and equal station to which the laws of Nature..."

    May was a "remainer" when the referendum took place 3 years ago.

    She assumed the PM job after David Cameron resigned.

    Being a remainer means that even though she pledged to take the country out of the EU membership, deep down she did not have the conviction it was the right course of action.

    This was proven by her third round of strategy which included a possible new referendum, that completely alienated Parliament.

    Boris Johnson will finish the job.

        As I followed the saga of her "ideas" being rejected over and over, it was clear she was biding her way to a repeat of the referendum, with the desired outcome of the "remainers" winning, then shelf the whole drive of Brexit.

        She wasted 3 years of meddling.
