Winners of wars have been ruining things since the beginning of time. The creation of Israel was a recipe for disaster. The European powers made a lot of messes with their "empires" and the US hasn't learned much from history.

After WW-I, with the defeat of the Ottoman Empire its large territory was re-assigned. New nations were created out of areas with populations having only tribal loyalties. Kings were appointed by the victorious allies, well mainly Britain and France, from the leaders of tribes that had supported the allies. The result was the same disorder that had existed under the decaying Empire. The Sykes-Picot Agreement was the name for the plan that set the new national boundaries.

You might have that correct...wasn't into colonization, Historically speaking.

Unless I'm totally mistaken the Frech created Syria and it screwed up leadership class as a colonial power. Am I remembering correctly?
