Homeless Explosion in California

This is just first-person observation. It's clear that we're experiencing a huge explosion in what I'd call the visible homeless population. On the blvd right near my home my wife and I sat in the truck at the intersection and just looked around. They're starting to move on to little grass areas under trees right along the road, out in the open. It seems the more hidden spots are taken up now. I can hike along the river and see tents in almost any somewhat hidden alcove. I can't help but make the comparison between this and what happened to San Francisco when Gavin was mayor there. Now, he's governor. Here we're starting to deal with the used toilet paper problem I saw in SF last time I was there about 4 years ago. This is surreal.

Parvinder and Habib are beggar in London.
Parvinder begs just as long as Habib but only collects £2 to £3 every day.
Habib brings home a suitcase FULL of £10 notes, drives a Mercedes, lives
in a mortgage-free house and has a lot of money to spend..

    Parvinder says to Habib
'I work just as long and hard as you do but how do you bring home a suitcase
full of £10 notes every day?'

Habib says, 'Look at your sign, what does it say'?
Parvinder's sign reads, 'I have no work, a wife and 6 kids to support'.

Habib says, 'No wonder you only get £2- £3'
Parvinder says... 'So what does your sign say'?

    Habib shows Parvinder his sign...
    in big letters-

'I only need another £10 to move back to Pakistan '.

This is the real harm that charitable giving causes. Some small percentage of the public is giving these people money, and enough to make it profitable to be a bum, so people are entering that occupation.

I've seen enough of these phony homeless get into nice cars at the end of their shifts that I'm thinking of taking pictures to post in the places they infest. But we need a strong public backlash against the so-called good samaritans, or the problem will never go away.

(And yes, I agree, the urban-planning housing cartel needs to go away too. But most "homeless" are faking it.)

This is also happening in Seattle. Back in 2015, I made quite a few trips to the Emerald City. Blue tarp tent encampments would wander around, beneath various underpasses along with just a few block outside the homes and neighborhoods of friends. I rarely ever saw a moving body -- just the tents, carts and the piles of debris.

Michael Medved hosts a radio show - he is a conservative and lives in Seattle. His take: the growing and roving bands of homeless could be handled -- but the city admins like to have the homeless out there in the open, to actively showcase the wealth disparity.

Some friends recently posted on a hiking meetup site information regarding "taking food out to Tiger Mountain Camp 4" -- Indeed, these camps are now becoming permanent fixtures. If you tax something, you will get less of it. If you subsidize something, you will get more of it. Camp # 4 will be even larger next year.

I was going to post a link to a great video that KOMO out of Seattle created -- nearly an hour long. But YouTube removed it. Someone else posted recently on GG: https://www.galtsgulchonline.com/post...

Yeah, I'm noticing these problems being blamed on Trump more and more without so much as a single brain cell noticing Trump has only been in office two years and these problems have been around much longer than that.

I don't blame people for being homeless per se, I think it is the fault of people in the government with their zoning laws, etc.
If you mean it is because of illegal immigration, I guess such people will have to be expelled. (We can't have people just jumping the fence; at a minimum, there ought to be at least a medical examination, to screen against contagious diseases).
As to a wall, someone has brought up the issue of eminent domain. I can't believe in eminent domain, as it is a violation of private property rights. But perhaps if the wall were built right on the border line, that would be acceptable.

South Idaho, based on my little bit of research, is certainly being invaded and turned...

They want homeless people. If they don’t have enough, they just create policies to make more.

Just wait until we have another recession, then things will spin out of control. Do we have the intestinal fortitude to deal with the problem or we will sit idly on the wall with Humpty Dumpty until it all blows up. The only possible way out of this mess is to elect people to the city, county, state, and federal government who are fiscally conservative and are term-limited.

    Basic Rules for Government:
    1) If you want less of something, tax it.
    2) If you want more of something, subsidize it.

One only need look at what California's government has been taxing and subsidizing to understand the rise of the homeless and legal & illegal poor and the flight of middle class homeowners and the rich.

In the hazed perception of the left, the poor and drugged-out are makers and the middle class and the rich are the takers.

Silicon Valley is the exception. My theory is that its occupants are so wealthy, they are willing, even happy, to look the other way.

Same with Las Vegas. Homeless people are camping everywhere now and begging at many, many intersections. They are just 'asking' now, but soon they will be demanding and then attacking.

I blame this on Obama and his entitlement philosophy.

Oh yes...I am aware of the spreading sickness.
Kinda like the New Yawk and New Joisy plates down here in Florida.
I had just read the article about Lickenhooper and couldn't resist sharing.

But...but...we're all "oh-so-concerned" and progressive here, how can this be true?

Colorado isn't the only State they are infecting. Idaho and Nevada are also seeing their share of new license plates and it is driving up the real estate prices to a ridiculous level.

In a particularly applicable and recent case, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Boise, Idaho police can not evict squatters setting up tents in public parks and other public places within city limits. What was their reasoning? That it was "cruel and unusual punishment" - even though they never appear before a judge and no "sentence" is ever delivered... My hope is that this one gets appealed to the Supreme Court and overturned, as this is just ridiculous.

You really need to move out of there. We here in Indiana will take you in. Of course we like people who will work, which you won't have any problems with.

It most certainly is. Of course the Kalifornia regressives (good word thought up by you, I think) will say that all of their problems are caused by Trump and not having enough money to run their socialist programs..

And some of the ones that have already left Kalifornia have moved to Colorado. They have infected the state goobermint with a Governor that says he took his mother to see "Deep Throat".

Not surprised. Thanks for the info on the book. I'll see if I can find that interview with Ingraham... Many years ago I noted a very strong, creepy fixation on our children. I don't need to point out the allegations of the past few years that have shown they're uncloaking now...

Did you catch the guy on Laura Ingraham's show last night? He is an ex-con who is now a confirmed Conservative Republican, as according to him, are some of his friends (also ex-cons). He cautioned that many MS13 members are coming across the Border and their Manifesto is to indoctrinate our children in the poor neighborhoods as they did him and his friends. He has written a book called 'The Hot Slot?" A tell-all book!

Our society is unraveling. The disintegration of the family is the final step, IMO. Once that's done it's all over... They are damaging kids to the point that their parents can't raise them anymore. No, that's not a typo, either. I mean every word of it.

Update: So, I took the day off yesterday and when I was driving my kids to school I was stopped at that same intersection with my kids in the truck with me. Some hobo walked right in front of my truck leering at us through the windshield cussing and yelling. My son said, "What's wrong with him?" "Oh, he's just crazy, son." Then, no more than about an hour later I stopped by the store to get a couple supplies and two hobos got into a screaming match and fist fight right outside the door.

Another man was walking in with me and said something about it. I said, "Yeah, we're leaving California soon. I'm going to just take this in and enjoy it while I can." He laughed really hard at that.

    Bat scat crazy in Cali...
