From age 15 to 16 I ran Brown and Sharp Screw Machines and have a few scars to prove it...laughing...to this day, I can still sharpen a drill to perfection.
The lathe, a brilliant machine. But from when do pottery wheels date? Two thousand years ago or more? Windmills, driven by wind or by water, for grinding corn go back hundreds of years. But the point is correct that from about that time, mid 17 hundreds, inventions just poured out of the human mind.
I was waiting for the guillotine to be shown which came into common use after 1792.
