Venezuelans do not like the cost of their enforced equalness.

“The power struggle between embattled Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and the opposition met its most bold action on Tuesday when Juan Guaido called for a military uprising to oust the socialist leader.”

I sincerely hope that is the case. But as Russia and China become stronger, and the USA weaker, the balance of power tends to shift away from mutually assured destruction as a deterrent to disaster.

Russia and China are the mortgage holders for a LOT of Venezuelan oil and dont want to give up control of Venezuela for fear they will lose their stakes

Neither Vlad nor Trump want war. Both know the result would be disaster for their people. As long as these two are in charge they will make a deal that prevents war.

As I understand it, Maduro basically mortgaged the oil riches of Venezuela to Russia and China. Now Russia doesn’t want to give up its claims, so is protecting maduro with actual troops from Russia. It’s not a good idea to have Russia take over the wealth of venezuela, but it’s going to wind up having us fight Russia. Not good

Scary thought, Term2. I always had a sneaking suspicion the Neo Communists via The Evil Hag would have us in a scrape with Russia. It seemed they were pressing for it up to the 2016 election. Trump changed the game, but Venezuela may tip it back. Makes you wonder what the heck is going on.

If we stay out of it, the Russians will take over Venezuela and the oil there

Its going to come down to real US military force against the cubans and russians. Not sure what will happen then. Maybe war with Russia.

Someone needs to kill Maduro. If this goes on, the Russians and Cubans will take over Venezuela and provoke a military response from the USA- and maybe nuclear war with Russis

I think this is why Trump came out and issued an ultimatum to Cuba to get their troops out or face complete sanctions as a result.

    Ain't that the truth!
The elites on top cannot stomach the loss of their power and the $ and other goodies that come with it.

Thing about socialism, it’s easy to vote your way in but it’s very difficult to vote your way out.

The problem the revolutionaries have is Cuban and Russian troops deployed as a kind of Praetorian Guard for Maduro, as insurance against indigenous military revolt. The question is whether or not the U.S. can stand by while the Venezuelan people are slaughtered by the use of increased firepower from the Cubans and Russians, who are bluntly invaders.

Surgical strikes by drones could quickly turn the tide by taking out armored vehicles, allowing the Venezuelan military an even playing field. If some of those individuals taken out happen to be Russians in unmarked vehicles, TS. We annihilated a force of Russian mercenaries in Syria who made the mistake of firing on our Kurd allies, and the Kremlin uttered not a peep in protest. They know they're stretching their political/military envelope in the Western hemisphere, and if the gamble goes against them, they'll fold.

It's about time! As one who really hates war, having lost too much that was dear to me, I applaud this uprising to oust the oppressors. Obviously it is their only recourse. Starvation isn't fun!

Not sure coup id the correct work. Milatary revolt might be a better term if the military responds vavoribly.
My fervent hope is we stay the hell out of it.
