Fed keeps interest rates steady, citing muted inflation

Federal Reserve officials unanimously voted to leave interest rates unchanged during their two-day meeting this week, with policymakers continuing to signal that they will be patient with monetary policy moving forward.
"We do think our policy stance is appropriate right now," Chairman Jerome Powell said during a press conference following the meeting's conclusion. "We don’t see a strong case for moving in either direction."

Good for the continued growth of the economy. Jacking intrest rates would slow the growth and cause job growth stagnation or even loss. Not a good thing now with inflation at a relatively low pount.

For over a decade I've been expected inflation > 3%, but we just haven't seen it. In my earliest memories as a child I was aware of inflation and unemployment, with the Fed having to hike rates to stop the inflation at the expense of increasing unemployment. Now we have low inflation and unemployment. Federal deficit is a huge looming problem, but it's not an immediate crisis. It's hard to imagine things being better.
