I suspect they are correct that people usually get longer prison sentences. I don't see that and say "why can't every convict get long sentences". I think "why can't everyone except for the most heinous criminals get shorter sentences". We pay proportionally to the length of the sentence, but criminals don't weight the prison sentence length rationally. They usually hope they won't get caught, and don't weigh the expected value of prison sentence.

There is no lenient sentence for those who love liberty and are innocent.

OF COURSE President Trump CAN pardon Manafort!!! He is the President, and the POTUS can pardon anyone he damned well pleases!!! Look at all the last-minute pardons Clinton and Obama gave while they were still president. Even if the person IS GUILTY. That's the whole point behind a pardon! Its the POTUS's prerogative!

Glad you liked the article. All the moaning and lecturing about the "lenient" sentence is hard to take. When you think it has to do with NOTHING but how they loathe President Trump. It really is an ugly mob and not much more.
