You know you live in a Country run by idiots if...

Hard work and success are rewarded with higher taxes and Government intrusion, while slothful, lazy behavior is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid and subsidized housing, and free cell phones.

I hope so, otherwise I might feel bad for laughing so much! Then again we did hear about an Obama staff member suggesting they repeal a law of physics...

I get it. I "walk" in here and am so unsatisfied. all we can do is educate. if people will get it-great-but even those who are "on our side" miss soooo much

I think there are too many issues. The 2nd Amendment issue is a big one for me too. They just keep piling up, until you wonder what to do next. Tonight and tomorrow are gun issues, at least I have an opportunity to do something to support that.

Your pet issue is business and you can educate others about that a hell of a lot better than I can. My pet issue right now is the 2nd amendment, an issue I know something about and can argue it with others somewhat intelligently. We can both serve a purpose toward the same goal. I have talked with others about gov regs and the affects on businesses, usually they change the subject because they find it outside of their box of understanding and interest. It happens with gun control too (happened last night in fact...I may not walk with this person again any time soon!..I already cut her off for 2 months after the election cuz I'm sick of talking about fluff on our walks)..but I will keep trying...when I can with those I think will half listen. Which aren't very many. It's grueling!

Can we start with eliminating "free" school lunches..PLEASE! It creates wasteful, oblivious ingrates. Actually, let's eliminate school lunches all together... Bring a lunch from home. If you don't bring one...you don't eat. (I know this seems petty, I've been called out on this before, but it really feeds the beast of entitlements at a VERY young age and I've been watching it snowball for years.) The ties between success (working hard) and having food in front of you are ignored. ie: Earning what you need to survive. It's so basic.

Agreed but how do we fix it?

I personal believe the root cause of our current entitlement culture is directly linkable to the education system and who has been teaching our children for the past 40 years. News media also plays a large part when the only commentary people hear is biased individual success, i.e. “wow, he’s made a lot of money, who did he screw to get that kind of money”. You never hear “wow, he’s made a lot of money, how did he do it? What can I learn to be as successful?”

The current state of affairs has been in the works for over 40 years, I think it’s going to take another generation to fix it without a major event to wake people up.

I know...I tried to separate the ideas, but it gets hairy. I wish I had time I'd go thru them and weed out the details better. We're in a space with ardent producers so of course the idea of being a moocher isn't appealing, but in most circles being a moocher would be considered fun. And for game playing and making a point I could briefly play one...and I'd probably be a really good (really bad) one too because I know all their angles already. We shouldn't let it fizzle. It's just difficult to have any kind of round table brain storm in a linear, typed, unspoken forum. But if there is a will there is always a way...:)

too bad we can't clean up those posts to be coherent for game development. it kind of fizzled when no one wanted to be a moocher.

Chicago succeeds in further restricting legal gun ownership. (There was fewer murders when Capone ran the city.)

Businesses are the enemy in the eyes of a looter. They make a profit... big woop. It's not at all what they should be making for their efforts. When they all decide they are paying too much in healthcare, business licenses, commercial insurance, classes for their workers and themselves, sewer rates are higher, water use rates are higher, electric rates are higher, property taxes are higher, workman's comp went up 27% this year, health inspectors, sewer inspectors, boiler inspectors, license to sell alcohol, crabbing license, fishing license, food safety classes, alcohol serving classes....... it NEVER stops... and most of these licenses you have to buy are for the inspectors to police YOU. If I don't know how to take care of food, I wouldn't have customers. It is just so damn ridiculous.

I still think I am a Hank Reardon, but why keep going on. Been a little quiet the last few days (chronically pissed, stolen from LetsShrug). This IS a country run by idiots.
