Very good article. I did manage to read it all and actually understand it too, lack of smarts and all. However, I'm at a loss at how we go about undoing the stifling regulations that have been put into place. UN-doing ALL of these debilitating requirements is what should be done, and what NEEDS to be done to get our businesses free to thrive again. How do we UNdo ANY of the hindering things that are put upon us? When the sheep won't care OR listen OR fight? It's a serious question...HOW do we undo the mess?

well President second coming has talked about removing companies that are below a certain revenue amount being part of the compliance. The only two candidates on the repub side that even mentioned Sarbox were Romney and Gingrich. again, those legislators who do not understand business just don't get it. for instance, Paul Ryan voted for it. and Kemp was a big mentor to him. There's a joke about the financial district in London putting up a statue to Sarbanes and Oxley-for sending US companies to them to go public. we now have only a handful of companies going public today. pre passage of Sarbox, we saw upwards of hundreds going public in a year.

it's like anything. groups get together. problem with regulations are-there's so many of them, it's hard to know where to start. and those who would have built a business in that way, tend to just build it slower. you can stay privately owned and not be subjected to the regs. but when companies go public, this is an opportunity to grow-add lots of employees, locations, R&D. It is one of the main reasons we are seeing such a tight job market.

We're buried under them and we have to dig our way out with a shovel and every shovel full is a major fight that takes forever and in the meantime someone else is throwing more shovels full back on us at a much faster pace (plaid speed, if you will).... They have us overwhelmed, which is RIGHT where they want us to be....

They'd rather have the control than the money because they can get the money by raising taxes on everybody else.... they don't see that that can end though.
The populace is convinced that they NEED the governments help them and they translate new business laws and regs as a good thing that will keep them from getting "ripped off" by greedy businesses. Unless you've run your own business you cannot fully understand the level of costly, time consuming, hurdles they cause. And if you've never run a business it's easy to ignore too. And that covers most Americans.
All of our concerns boil down to one thing...waking up America to the point of giving a crap about things that they don't think directly affects them. I think thee ONLY thing that will do that is... hunger. And by the time that happens...we're ALL starving.
