Here's (sort of) what he have so far:
Object of the game: To fend off, or work around, ever increasing government regulations, while sticking to your principles and protecting your own self interest to earn a trip to the Gulch (name will be changed to protect the knowledgeable).
There will be Producers (earners), Moochers (free loaders), and Strikers (Producers already in the Gulch).
Currency will be gold and silver tokens/pieces (Maybe gold only in the gulch and silver outside..?)
Listed below, in the comment fields, will be categories/ideas that need to be worked on. Please reply to the appropriate comment for ideas/input.

that's why I like the idea of strikers. they quit. the point is, the Gulch is not nirvana-it is an option.
it is to demonstrate that moochers are making life difficult for everyone. regardless of who wins-look at the table of players. everyone has an equal chance. if a moocher win, I think you'll find everyone else will be impoverished. if producers win, on average everyone is doing well. if strikers win, there's less being earned by producers and moochers.

What if you had to roll a die to get a game piece, thus always keeping things from becoming redundant. There would be a 50/50 chance whether you would be a Producer or moocher.

I'm holding out for him dropping "the big one" on us. I want to bring Dave's ideas up to this post-or separate out posts. some are going to better at defining the overall objectives of the game, others are going to excel at the details of play. how should we do that?

I think I like gblaze47...his mediocre ideas are pretty good. (Better than my 'good' ones.)

I want to mix the two. Have you heard of Cash Flow? If you're familiar with that game, you would see it meshes real life risk/rewards with fun/fantasy aspects. but people learn real concepts by plying the game

I'm afraid you won't find anyone who wants to play the moocher. Even the real ones won't want to be called out on the carpet, so to speak.

The question is where do you want to draw the line? Do you want the game to be as realistic or actually have some fun in doing it? I would have it end at either the Maker/Producer achieves his goal or the Moocher finishes off the Producer, ie. eliminating all his money and putting him out of business.

if we did that, I'd never play a moocher. I think moochers, producers and strikers would all have an equal chance at winning-it's just by different means

I agree with you. but now I know your hand. :)
as long as you're wanting to keep us interested, give us a plan for the those in the Gulch. Choosing to Galt is something many do not see as a positive. if the winner, has the most assets(say), players may decide to stay producers longer-or if this is based on real life, moochers always seem to be the most wealthy(dictatorships, cronies, monarchies).

As a 50 year old married professional, I haven't dated since you probably were born.

I would also tell you this is the way of making a sale to a potential investor, heck any form of business start-up typically uses this methodology.

I never lead with my best ideas, always get things interesting and people wanting more, then I drop the big one.

Have you seen any old wax stamps before? They are usually made of a metal, with a raised emblem on the base. It was pressed into hot wax, or used like rubber stamps. This could just utilize the letters I
Of the IRS. I could send a photo showing one. When I was in Venice last summer, there was a table FULL of antique stamps.
