One fine day a few decades ago the young lady who is now my wife was sent by her company to some sort of "leadership" training sessions that used to be very popular. There were some good classes on management, and then there was the philosopher-guy tacked on at the end.

That guy told the class that there was no such thing as reality.

Unfortunately for him the class consisted of shop foremen and skilled rednecks. And my wife.

She, an engineer, suggested that the instructor test his notion of anti-reality. "There is a railroad track out behind this building. The train usually goes by about half an hour from now. Go out there and lie down on the track and wait for that train that does not exist. Oh, and hand me your car keys."

The foremen and rednecks all dissolved into laughter. The philosopher turned red and slunk out the door.

In MY reality, we will all be saved by the shop foremen and rednecks. And the engineers.

When me dino was a college student a dreamy eyed professor questioned reality and essentially asked how do we know what we think is real is really real or really there.
That same day I mentioned that silly spew to a guy I rented a room with.
He said we ought to take that professor to a pasture for cattle, stick his face into a cow pie and ask him if it was really real.

Oh, gosh, what a wonderful idea. it would be nice to do that to AOC. She deserves the odor of the flatulence emitting from a cow pie. She would find out what a cow f--- really is....stinky but nothing to endanger the planet.

Stuff makes great fertilizer. Suddenly recall drivng behind a track hauling a trailer full of cow poop on a too-laner in Oklahoma during a return trip from California back during 1973.. The headwind was scooping dried-out turds off the top that were bouncing off my windshield while I was trying to pass. Both my brother Steve (the only lib of 4 bros) and I were cussing like sailors by the time we got around that truck. It would make a comic scene in an R-rated movie, though.

Imagine being taught that there is no such thing as truth. That existence may not exist. That a thing may not be itself. That time may not move forward. That men and women may not be different. That life may not eventually end. That 2+2 may equal 5.
    A freeway to collective insanity.

I am 71 yrs old. A child of the 60's. I didn't know or care much about politics until Viet Nam started nipping at my heels. I believed that even tho I did not like it, I had to do my duty. I enlisted. The Army trained me on computers. Fast forward a decade or two I was still not fully politically aware. Then, I listened to The Bork confirmation hearings. Ted Kennedy singlehandedly converted me to a Republican. Fast forward a few more decades at the age of 60 something, I had still not read the book 1984. I remember many references to it. So I read it.
Long story made short. My journey has shown that regardless of the newbies and new math...
      2+2 = 4. Always has.....Always will.

And if there is no reality, what is he teaching you about? And if it's not real, why should you listen to him? Ask him that (and maybe get sent to the principal's office, or get a lower grade. But if you make good enough grades usually, you may be able to afford it, and get off with a C. Personally, I generally wasn't much concerned with the grades I took home to my parents, provided they were at least up to a C. But then I didn't go to college.--Except I've had a few tech courses, like keypunch and IST100 Computer. But then, I wasn't a kid by then).

A true instance of of "If someone thought it, it is real" approach to life and journalism (especially) It doesn't matter what evidence is provided or not provided. Someone thought it was real so it was.

Whenever the claim of racism is leveled now, I turn off and ignore whatever that person says.

I do think that calling someone racism is indeed a microaggression and should get the same attention as similar microagressions get when claimed by a leftist.

It is a sad commentary on the health of our society that a young man with what would have been two strikes against him (gay and black) not so long ago, has achieved professional success, and yet is still so convinced of his "oppression" that he has to stage an event to prove his paranoia is real. Part of this is the risk all actors take, a profession that requires living an imaginary existence, and keeping one's real existence separate and intact.
