Ocasio-Cortez: Latinos Can’t Be Illegals Because They’re ‘Descendants of Native People’

There. I guess she told us!

How in the world did this glittering jewel of ignorance get elected? A part of the answer, of course, is that today's system of education is focused on "social justice" etc. rather than teaching the fundamentals that some of us grew up learning. Civics, American History, etc.

I have to ask... have we lost this country?

Latinos are the descendants of the Conquistadors. One of the most vicious and racist set of conquerors in the history of the world. Almost anybody in south or Central America, except for Brazil will claim direct Spanish ancestry even if they only have one drop of Spanish blood. So what this means is they're all evil whites just like the rest of us. I wonder if this nitwit has even considered the term "Latinos" ...it comes from Latin....which of course refers to the catholic European ancestry.

The fact that she got elected should really scare all of us. I think she's a hoot...funny as hell. However, she's now got the guns. That's not funny.

She was elected by one district in NY. Worse, and far deeper, is that Democrats across the country have embraced her as their spiritual ideal.

Watch how they are willing to waffle on the embarrassing, impossible policies of the moment and the gross misstatements of fact, but always go back to the basic moral premise of her altruism/collectivism.

They tell us not to worry about the details of "policies" and to embrace their "Plan". There is no backing down on that.

It's as if the fact that someone with her overt collectivism could be elected and is willing to speak out with no qualifications has released them from reluctance to publicly acknowledge and embrace what they have believed all along: "Venezuela For All!"

The concept of "native" or "indigenous" people is based on a based on a biblical view of the world where God created the peoples of the world in the places where they live.

Scientific research indicates that we are all immigrants from Africa that spread around the world in a variety of waves. The concept of "indigenous" comes from whoever happened to be there when the Europeans arrived. Early tribes of indians who took territory from other tribes of indians didn't call them indigenous.

"Indigenous" is a relative term being used as a frozen abstraction. It's the same fallacy as the viro preservationists who want to "restore the forests" to an arbitrary point in time. The significance to those employing both fallacies is that they want whatever is not us.

There are NO native or indigenous people in the Western Hemisphere. We're ALL immigrants. She's an imbecile and a product of the modern American public education establishment.

Nothing is ever absolutely established -- I'm still hoping for an exception to gravity!

They have a pretty good map of the various waves based on genetics markers that's getting clearer all the time. It's very hard to imagine separate evolution being the same species and we are all cross-fertile. Other than saying "God made us this way", we pretty much need a common ancestor that we haven't deviated too far from.

I have lived in Colorado for most of my life, and for as long as I can remember I have heard something similar coming from Latinos, mostly ancestrally Mexican, who live in Colorado. A belief that appears to has been passed down from generation to generation, the idea that the Southwestern U.S. was illegally taken from Mexico and that all of this land still belongs to Mexico. And because of their belief in this theft, they believe that the U.S. owes something to Mexicans, and at this point apparently all other Latinos, as well. So these people are going to keep coming in droves until something is done to stop them. We must secure our Southern Border ASAP, something should have been done decades back.

Most "native" peoples had no concept of property rights and ownership, meaning there was no land to "take". They "took" each other in brutal conquest.

You are correct in stating they "had no concept of property rights and ownership" as pertaining to individuals, but they were still territorial peoples on a tribal level as in Iroquois territory vs Huron territory or Aztec territory vs Inca territory. You're also right regarding brutality. A Huron found east of the Niagara River may well find his head being used as the ball in a Seneca game of La Crosse.

Yes, they want a return to the romantic and peaceful days of the tribal Native-American dancing in the forest making kissy face with Bambi. Just ask the Erie people after whom Lake Erie is named, they'll tell you all about it. Oh wait... you can't because the Erie were virtually stamped out of existence by the Iroquois, particularly the Seneca, during the Iroquois/Huron wars, which began even before the white man arrived and ended around 1660. The Erie were cousins/allies of the Huron "empire" pressing the Seneca in what is now Western NY and the Mohawk up on the St. Lawrence region. I guess the Huron were one of the main reasons the Iroquois Confederacy was formed. Some Erie were captured and enslaved by the Iroquois (mainly Seneca as keepers of the Western Gate) and eventually absorbed and the rest fled into Huron territory and were absorbed by them. In any case, the Erie are no more - and the white man didn't do it. So much for kissy face with Bambi.

"Territorial" with elastic territory. Tribalism always exists confined within such territories. If they intermix within the same space they annihilate each other faster.

Even some NY politicians in NYC are influenced by established financial interests. But acdording to the article, "Ocasio-Cortez could just run, and probably win, in any nearby New York City district the party may try to draw for her. She noted that when it comes to future redistricting, she’s in a unique situation because her name recognition is so strong".

Whatever happens to Ock in two years the significance isn't her loony proposals, it's the way she has been popularly embraced for her 'moral vision' which they're all after one way or another.

I believe the Democratic Party will be destroyed by the Declassification of the FISA. I expect it wii be released after the Special Councils investigation wraps up. It is not wishful thinking. Many crimes of treason and sedition will be prosecuted. When the cancerous corruption is radiated and eliminated
We may have a chance at bringing reform to the education system.
        So much work to do.

AOC is so naive regarding the history of the Americas. Doesn't she know about the Spanish and Portuguese colonization of Mexico through South America? I'm beginning to wonder if Californians had moved to Long Island NY. Or I'm beginning to suspect that voters across the US had cast their ballots for the most attractive and the best dressed candidate. Which I believed happened here in Az with the election of Kirsten Sinema to the US Senate. It could be that there are too many liberal Californians had moved to Az. It must the dumbing down of millennials is to blame.

And Nevada swept blue last November. We rural Nevadans really need a state based electoral college. We are doomed by the idiots in Vegas, all who recently (in my lifetime) came from elsewhere.

As is the case in Oregon, Florida, and many other states. We need a cure for this terminal infection!

The cure is spreading the right fundamental ideas instead of the wrong ones. See Ayn Rand's "What Can One Do" and "Don't Let It Go" in Philosophy: Who Needs It.

States 'going blue' is a national phenomenon. It isn't due to internal migration; more people believe the wrong ideas. The wrong philosophy is spread every day from the professional intellectuals and their followers. Those moving to another state and voting for what they just left is only one source influencing the distribution. It's about ideas, not bodies moving around.

It's both. I live in OR, and can attest that some 30 percent of the state is comprised of Californians who have moved north to escape the high cost of living (ironically due in large part to liberal policies).

There DOES need to be a strong voice in promoting the right ideas. The left has successfully demonized black and white in favor of a more "nuanced" view of the world in which there is no right or wrong.

People do move to escape what they have wrought, then repeat it -- from CA to TX and NV, too, and from northeast states to the southeast. Radical leftists have been moving to rural areas as observed in MT and ME.

But that is a shift in the voting distribution and does not account for the wave of leftism on average nationally. A constant barrage of opinion and distorted news based on bad, anti-American philosophy and worse is flowing everywhere from the media and education, and spreading through people talking among themselves. When people migrate between states they don't just vote for what they left behind, they talk to their new neighbors. That is all how cultures change.

So it's not just bodies moving to vote, it's spreading ideas everywhere analogous to the flow of heat: through the convection of the migration, the conduction between people, and the radiation from the media and educational establishments -- the professional intellectuals. To cure the terminal infection first understand the nature of the disease.

That is why I referenced the two Ayn Rand articles above directly dealing with the nature of this problem as primarily intellectual and what the contrasting philosophies are. There a couple of militant anti-Ayn Rand cowards on this forum who routinely 'downvote' whatever I post, including references and links to Ayn Rand, like the one above. They do not belong on this forum -- or if that is now deemed to be the "community standard" here, perhaps the best people no belong here anymore than in the worst of the states.

ewv; Excellent post! I also appreciate the analogy of thermodynamics of heat and energy distribution with political mindsets. Entropy, entropy, all winds down.

I would add that the large scale national power politics entities also do their homework into the demographics of the individual states. In the case of my Nevada home state, they are seeing meat on the bone in the horrendous distortion of state wide demographics due to the influx of "outside" people into Las Vegas and the Reno area that have not a clue as to what the rest of Nevada is all about; i.e.; resource production.

With this in mind, they targeted huge funds and human time specifically into the Nevada political campaigns targeting the new populations of goon outsiders that haven't a clue about any political history or leanings of the history of this incredibly unique State.

So we have is what was once a wonderfully free and libertarian State attitude of "I don't care what you do, so long as it does not affect me" heading fast towards another "liberal" disaster zone of globally oriented centralized control.

I deliberately moved here over 30 years ago for what it was then, and it is so disheartening to watch where it is going.

It is not just because of the outsiders arriving here and spreading their bad ideas, it is also because the larger influences see what is going on and smell opportunity to take more control via more seats in Congress and the State legislatures. We in the rurals are near helpless against this global onslaught.

But, ultimately you are absolutely correct, the only solution is through thought and ideas. Everything is at stake.

Have you ever heard of the saying don't be so open minded that your brains fall out? It's an old saying but it has bering on the educational system of today. Everything is not only allowed but encouraged as long as it is "non-traditional".

This seems to be embracing stupidity as the new norm. Welcome to the new narrative "You don't need to understand the world or people; They just need to understand you, accept you and forcibly trample anyone that disagrees."

Her type of thinking doesn't build or grow anyone, it only makes enemies of polarizing people. I agree with the acceptance of others, even the ones you don't yet understand. However, I don't agree with accepting violent ignorance. Some people need correction and this spoiled SJW needs a good deal of it.

She was "open minded" in school, which is how her open mind was filled with garbage when the lid was off. But she isn't "open" to anything now. She is a militant collectivist. Her biggest ignorance is accepting altruism and collectivism as a principle for human life.

Every refutation of ridiculous assertions easily refuted is dismissed as insignificant in comparison with her overall "plan". The Democrats are acting in unison accepting and promoting it as is a moral ideal and vision for the country, repeatedly dismissing "details" as only something to be worked out later.

One common sound bite heard over and over is that it's only a "conversation starter" so don't worry about contradictions that they agree "don't work" -- they'll do it another way. The Republicans go along with it, falling right into the "conversation", and what we get are arguments over which policies to put in place first and in what form on the way to the "ideal".

It isn't, at least after learning better after some of what we were improperly taught by implication. A lot of education is and was infused with rationalism.

A major distinction in Ayn Rand's philosophy and thinking is a radical fact-based approach in all aspects. She repeatedly looked at the meaning and implications in reality of general statements, and insisted on validating concepts and definitions in terms of the fact that give rise to them. You can see that reality-based approach to thinking even in her personal letters published in Letters of Ayn Rand.

What's most discomfiting is how AOC has become the spokesperson for all of the Democrats running for President. Are they truly that stupid, or is it that they believe enough voters are stupid enough that they should jump on the AOC bandwagon? She's too young to run for President, or I have no doubt she would have announced her campaign already. Lord help us!

She is leveraging the sickest parts of our human nature. For the same reason 90% of all stock traders lose money... We are wired FULL of BIAS. Cognitive Biases, etc.

So, the linguistics used are ones that are full of confirmation bias. Plus the desire to "Not Offend" and "Not Offend the weakest among us".

It is FAR worse to offend a young lady than a young man, especially today.

So, GOOGLEY Eyes smiles, says IDIOTIC things (to those whose cognitive bias is opposite hers), and to those that are HYPNOTIZED by how she speaks to the "heart" of the issue with all of those "Woke" Feels... And they don't even have to listen.

They vote, because she represents THEIR VALUES and FEELINGS.

(Of course, she is a politician. She does NOT really. To here it is a script and part of the act to get her job. She has been "well trained" by our education system in saying the right things to get ahead).

We shake our heads (sideways), and those moochers and looters shake their heads (up and down, chanting "Yeah, Right!") Which means they will NOT listen to reason, because it would be akin to admitting they are wrong!
