Pharma in the Crosshairs

Expected/anticipated deaths due to known drug side effects totals over 100k per year in the US. The pharma companies hire former college cheerleaders to sit on doctors' laps and encourage them to write more prescriptions. And, they're in the crosshairs for pricing. This makes me smile because it's nothing more than the mob wanting a cut.

Having managed a medical clinic for a number of years, I feel compelled to defend some of the 'Drug Reps'. The ones I encountered were intelligent, well informed, and good mannered. I wouldn't have wasted my time or the doctors who worked for me with a 'Cheerleader'. And there was no lap sitting in my clinic(s).

That's good to hear. Thanks for chiming in. And, I apply a little tongue-in-cheek. The fact that elected officials would use the term "crosshairs" here reminds me of Atlas Shrugged. A presidential candidate from 2016 I won't name made a killing tweeting various things regarding the pharma industry...things like questioning accounting practices, etc. You probably remember that. It was interesting to watch. Eventually, perhaps, they'll just nationalize the whole, damned thing.

Some of my current work is in compounding. Pretty busy area at this time...
