Leftist View: "There should be a law that PREVENTS them from closing these stores ESPECIALLY if they lose money, BECAUSE that PROVES people NEED it!"

    ROTFLMAO...

To quote my daughters friend "Yes, we should TRY to take care of everyone, even if it Bankrupts our country... Don't you care?"

And this is why Progressivism only "works" when it is implemented via the point of a legislatively dictated gun ... those who have, must be forced to pay for those who do not have.

The old saw about socialism working until you run out of other people's money applies here. Except that Panera did not take my money by force. They spent their own money to subsidize this for 8 years. That's fine.

Unless you have a degree from a modern university led by professors more interested in social justice than reality. [cough, cough] Paging AOC...

One wonders what these people are thinking, if indeed they ARE thinking. AOC is a piece of work, dompletely disconnected from reality. Stopping air travel and getting all energy from sunlight and wind. What happens at night with no sunlight and perhaps no suitable wind..

Of course in AS, there was no air travel either, Do they really think socialism will work?? hard to believe.

I knew a guy who ran an appliance store in Berkeley in the early 70's (I was young and stupid then) who set up a system where the employees would set their own pay, and all employees had to agree with the results. Not sure how long that lasted, but you can imagine the results. Hint: Didn't last long.

So the country is not ready for the socialist nirvana yet.

Even in the carefully selected Metro areas where social consciousness is highly developed (according to the left).

Harris will be in big trouble with her one payer Medicare rally, once people realize what it costs.

Someone needs to explain to the masses what Medicare, as instituted now, really is. For starters, it's not free. Retirees pay a premium out of their Social Security payments, and it only covers 80% of medical costs. Medicare recipients either pay for the other 20% out of pocket, or fork over another monthly premium for supplemental coverage.

The scam currently going on is that no one would have to pay anything for medical care, but to institute that policy, the cost would be much higher than even the $35T ten year estimates given. Expect to see Harris and others waffle on that promise as the primaries get closer and questions get harder to answer. Gleaming socialist promises can't stand the light of day.

I'm beginning to notice that the highly developed "social consciousness" of most Metro areas are of the mind that corporations, like Panera, are entities of the rich that obtained their wealth by ripping off the masses and the poor and by exploitation of the workers. Therefore, sarcastically saying, taking free stuff from such entities whenever possible until they go out of business is a duty and a right. Clearly the Panera management, who are so desperately trying to be socially responsible here, can see the social justice visited upon their establishment.
