Washington state lawmakers looking to ban eyeball tattoos

Why? I wouldn't do it and I'd be uncomfortable around someone with them but then I don't have to get or be around them. Just another example of liberals in power showing their nanny state version of tolerance and inclusion.
Medical concern? How about not mandating that insurance companies must cover future eye issues for those who do this to themselves?

If people what to harm themselves, it should not come at the cost of the consequences put upon others that are not that stupid...

Back to my: You Play...You Pay, principle...we can warn you but if you stick your tong in the light bulb socket then it's your problem...

Hey, this is a person's right to choose. Outlaw this and people will get their eyeball tatoos in back allies and basements. Oops...we're talking about tatoos, not Roe V. Wade. Sorry.

Help me, my Gulch friends. Three years ago I moved away from Redmond (Seattle area) to the eastern part of the State. Apparently it was not far enough to get away from these do gooders. My question: Is there any State left that is not run by psychos, or should I look elsewhere? Perhaps the Moon, or is that too close too?

Some regulation is appropriate, tattoo artists doing this have clearly overstepped their scope of practice. Of course I realize there is no fixing stupid, except for experience. I am sure some MD somewhere will be happy to take their money for this cosmetic procedure.

As long as someone desires that tattoo procedure and is willing to pay for it then how is it overstepping? This doesn't need a remedy or prohibition it simply needs consequence and responsibility. If someone chooses to have this done to themselves then let them own their decision and allow insurance companies to deny any type of eye claim form that moment on. If there is to be any regulation then it is to insure that those providing the eye tatoo's do so safely.

Taking away people's liberty, even to be dumb asses that are dangerous to themselves, is a slippery slope,no?

I fundamentally agree with you, but there is a reason why we license the practice of medicine, it has to do with basic minimum competency, even in medicine you don't want a psychiatrist performing heart surgery. The eye tattoo is less extreme, after all the main thing is the unsuspecting consumer may only lose their eyesight.

Nope, I don't think non medically trained personal should be peircing the eye. Find some MD to do it, fine and good luck with that.

Washington State should be more worried about real problems not eyeball tattoos.

As one of the Wests Coast's most liberal States, they have done enough damage to citizens by adhering to extreme liberal views.

If someone is stupid enough to sculp their eyes, be my guest.

Next step will be the State prescribing how people should live their lives, of which this is the fist step.
