Let me bring the example of Hungary if I may.

You probably know of the country: it is one of the former countries in Central Europe known as "Satellites" to the former Soviet Union.

After fifty years in that bondage the country took the turn for market economy along with others in the hemisphere when the Berlin Wall collapsed.

Since that time Hungary alternated between democratic and dictatorial governments. The latter was the result of the mistake Hungarians made when they failed to wipe out the communists still left over from the previous regime (similar to our problem here with Hussein leftovers).

After a few more decades Hungary had to sacrifice on the altar of communism as the country was pushed to total ruin, Viktor Orban won again in 2010 (he was PM before 1998-2002 but lost to a communist).

Since then he and his party won the elections 3 times with a 2/3 majority, something Brussels and the communist elite in Europe is unable to live with. Attacks against him are 24/7, aided and abetted by the Hungarian communist "opposition" which takes its cues from the left in this country and in Europe.

The reason I am bringing this up is the last election in 2017. There was an unusually high turnout which never happens in the country. Throughout the day people were standing in long lines waiting patiently for a chance to vote.

Early in the evening before the polls closed, the left went in front of the microphones declaring victory, threatening the PM to refrain from forming a government. They based their forecast on several facts: exit polls have notoriously been false so the left thought it was the case again, they assumed people were lying and finally that the unusually large turnout meant that everyone voted for them.

You can imagine the crash they suffered when it turned out by late evening that Orban won again by 2/3 majority.

The left there behaved very much like it does here. It was not running an honest campaign to understand what people want and what they say. In their lofty arrogance they ignored any sign or any direction people wanted the country to go, parroting their mindless slogans while never letting up the vicious attacks on the PM.

Since then the opposition parties ceased to exist but the remainder is staging violent rallies destroying 1000 years treasures in the process and blocking entrances to TV and press.

Viktor Orban is facing the same ordeal every day as president Trump. He has been doing it for 8+4 years with incredible ability to overcome it and keep the country producing and in peace. In this era that is what it takes to be a democratic leader.
