Cracked me up!...saying 'Hello" not a crime until next year!
Every now and then, I pass a person who will Not look my way...thought it was just my ugliness, ...now I know, it's not me, they are just from England!
Around 1967 my family flew from Dothan, Alabama (south enough to be two hours from Panama City, FL) to NY, NY, to attend an Ohio cousin's wedding to a New York gal met in college.. At some point 6-foot-tall me dino stepped out of the front of our hotel alone, saw a middle-aged dude coming the other way and said, "Hey," which is a Southern alternate of "Hi." The man became quite startled and gave me a wide berth, even stepping sideways o keep an eye on me for about three steps. I just came to a stop and stared at him out of sheer fascination the whole time and watched him finally hurry off. After that, it felt very unnatural for me not to greet people but I adapted.
