Oh boy recorded it and watched it last nite. I love this movie! Isn't it too bad we don't have movies like this any more? I laughed myself silly when Fox interviewed people re the upcoming Academy Awards!

While watching The Fountainhead last night on Turner Classic Movies, one thought really stuck out in mind as relevant yesterday. Gail Wynand does not want to cave to Ellsworth Toohey and desperately tries to keep The Banner afloat, but eventually gives in before Roark's trial. Wynand eventually caved just like President Trump yesterday on the wall. After Roark's trial, Wynand offers Roark a contract to build the Wynand Building before shooting himself a few minutes later. The Wynand Building was what Wynand wanted as a legacy ... kind of like Trump wants "The Wall".

Agree completely. Life imitates art, again. I thought Trump understood that he has nothing to lose by pissing off looters- they will never support him. Caving in just alienates more of his support base each time he does it. Every time that Reagan sacrificed his principles (and listened to his neocon advisers) he failed to achieve his goals; when he stayed true to his principles he won. Trump apparently doesn't remember that.

There was something bigger going on during all of this, It looks like he caved, but his original intent was accomplished...ie, after 30 days of government shutdown, the bureaucracies start getting rid of non essential personnel for good.
I have been trying to find out if that process is happening...no luck so far...maybe I have to go onto some government site to find that.
