        I thought that too, (a bill pass the house before the dimwits took over), but apparently he has the funds. Funds were specifically built into the military budget and he continues to build the wall. The theatrics and shutdown was all a ruse to reduce the size of the deep state bureaucracies.
        After 30 days of shutdown, they are required by law to start permanently laying off excess employees.

I seem to be alone here, but I didn't see it as a retaliation for Peloci trying to stop the SoTU. I saw it as a reaction to her deciding to leave the country on a junket rather than negotiate a solution to the budget show down.

Listening to the news tonight, many, those self righteous creatures, claim the tit for tat amusement was sophomoric, 5th grade,one said,...maybe so but how does one respond, without resorting to an angry tweet or a punch in the face to an out and out, for ego's sake, refusal to do the work of the people they are getting paid for doing.

Respond with humor? show her and the world just how ridiculous all this is.

You can't tell me Trump wasn't laughing his ass off while dictating that letter...

    It might be smarter for Trump to rent the Redskins' stadium, and give the address in front of 60,000 of his fans, with his face on the Jumbotron behind him, just like his campaign rallies. Let the TV talking heads try to make a humiliation out of that. They can't.

I happen to be in a hotel; so I occasionally turn on the TV new. AT home I have Internet video, but fortunately no TV.

These politicians seem less mature than my 8-year-old.

    Someone who worked in government was talking on the radio yesterday that if the government is shut down for more than 30 days, the Chief Executive can actually force all furloughed workers to re-apply for their jobs. I'd appreciate a confirmation on this but if true, it could go a long way toward starting to eliminate the career political hacks embedded in certain parts of the bureaucracies because the government could simply not re-hire them.

  Did you hear that we only need a few more days of the shut down (30) in order to have government workers let go permanently? There are rules to follow but each bureaucratic agency's will need to get rid of folks.
  We could expect a minimum of a 25% reduction.
