Survey results: Tech is not the key to improved shopping

The biggest eye-opener to me was the following:

"Almost all (98 percent) retail executives think that engaging with customers on social media is important to building stronger relationships with them. Only 12 percent of consumers think it has a significant impact on the way they think or feel about a brand."

Count me as part of that 88%. I have zero desire to "follow" or "like" a brand on social media and even less to have them constantly sending me information via social media.

"80 percent of retail executives believe that consumers would feel more welcome if in-store staff interacted with them more. Less than half (46 percent) of consumers agree, with 28 percent noting they would feel more annoyed."

It is a proof how far "retail executives" are from reality.

It is very annoying when you step in the dept store and a leech attaches himself/herself to you wanting to know how to help?

I always know what I want and where to get it. I like browsing and don't want to be pushed into something I don't want.

Despite all the tech help these "executives" are living in their own fantasy world.

Most times, for those of us that think and have better things to do, anyway, advertising works in the opposite way...in other words, it turns us off!!!!
