The Times piece is a great example of bureaucrats buying data in order to sow confusion and justify their existence.

    Absolutely, and I believe that Adler is advocating for the contradictions that give rise to statism. By conflating left, center, and right as a bunch irrational tribes, then it gives intellectual support for the need for the omniscient state to manage the world in their age of complexity.
