An economic free zone would have NO Taxes, not 20% income tax and 8% VAT.
In fact, since collection of income tax from the majority of Mexicans is near zero, this "free" zone has effectively higher taxation than the rest of Mexico. (Not even mentioning the crime levels across the border are often horrendous.)
This is a typically fraudulent act by a looter.
OTOH, maybe this shows a possible solution. The GOP establishes a true tax free, EPA-free zone 1 mile wide along the border for any legal American who builds a wall to federal security specifications along their border property. Imagine the rush of multinational corporations buying up border property for the tax advantage, and the sudden creation of jobs along the border.
Over 100 Mexican candidates were murdered last year. The political corruption is a disaster for those people and destroys opportunities .
Have no idea where that came from.
Or free meaning no taxes on economic activity.
