By objective measures I think Americans are better off in the short term than if Hitlery had been elected. It's too early to say for the long term.

I agree that the GOP wimped control away. The one thing I give to the left that they stick together, something the GOP has never been able to do. For them pitiful self aggrandizing issues were more important. Good example is the House Freedom Caucus that had its own agenda, to hell with the presidency.

In addition there is Ryan as Speaker who wasn't any more effective than Boehner, and you have the result of losing the House.
