Trump voters are being called on to crowdfund border wall: ‘It could be a people’s wall’

I suggested this a long time ago. This Goodman guy is right though when expressing concern about getting our monies worth...not to mention, making sure the money actually funds the wall.
One responder also suggested we sell add space.

Would you donate to help fund the wall?

I would not donate because the wall will accomplish nothing. The problem with immigration has nothing to do with the wall. It has to do with free stuff. The giveaway programs attract people we do not want. When people are starving they will do what they have to in order to eat. Dig under a wall go around a wall, go over a wall, be someones slave.... whatever it takes. If they are sure they can get something on the other side of that wall.

End the giveaway programs and you end problems with immigration. Only those that want an opportunity to work, to be part of the US culture and improve their lives through commerce and capitalism would come.

As long as they can come and get a free ride from tax payers they will find a way to do it, no matter what is done to stop it.

It’s not so much the giveaway programs as it is how all these giveaway programs are paid for. Let the people that want to give away all the free stuff away earn it with their own toil, then see how much they are willing to just give away.

        Solver,

If it were funded by those who wish to by a private charity I would completely agree with you. So long as it is done by force through the government its the problem.

You certainly hit the nail on the head ;regarding the entitlements. The Governm3nt officials should be charged with embezzlement or fraud for giving entitlements to illegals period also for aiding and abetting criminals..
The wall is also needed in my opinion. The trafficking of children and Drugs is a real issue.
Trump pointed out that illegal crossings where the wall has been rebuilt declined 95% or more. I have a locks on my doors at home and I know that people could break a window to gain entry, but I still wouldn’t sleep well with out my wall (locks).

The alleged 95% "where the wall has been rebuilt" is meaningless. 95% have enough sense to go around the end of the wall so they don't have to scale it or tunnel under it.

Go around it our fly over apparently.
By Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times - Wednesday, December 19, 2018
Border Patrol agents tracked an ultralight aircraft as it crossed the U.S.-Mexico border and made it 30 miles into the country early Tuesday morning — and when they got to the landing spot, they found two Chinese men who had been smuggled in by the aircraft.
The ultralight had escaped, lifting back off and returning to Mexico, but agents say they did manage to nab a Mexican man waiting in a vehicle near the landing zone in southern California, apparently ready to pick up the Chinese men and deliver them to their destination.
Experts said they had seen ultralights, small aircraft powered by lawn mower-sized engines, used to drop loads of drugs in the U.S. But they were surprised to see them being used to ferry illegal immigrants.
“It’s disturbing,” said Chris Harris, who retired this year after a two-decade career as a Border Patrol agent in San Diego and who suggested it could be a way for cartels to get dangerous people across the border. “If you want to get some operatives in this country very quickly, that’s a way.”
Gloria I. Chavez, chief patrol agent in the El Centro sector of the Border Patrol, agreed that ultralights pose a threat to “national security.”

Shoot 'em down. Any drone or ultralight which crosses into our airspace is illegal invasion of our soverign nation. Same as walking across the border.
Will the folks on the ultralights die? Maybe. Same as someone breaking into a home and being shot by the homeowner.
Drones? Keep knocking them out of the sky and it will soon stop. They are not cheap.

Well my friend, just like there is no excuse for ignorance of the law, so too, is there no excuse for not knowing, not catching on, not stopping the socialist idiots from creating all these free giveaways.

We should have revolted a long time ago...Now we live with that mistake.

Voluntary walls with "no trespassing violators will be shot upon sight" work everytime they are built. Deed all public lands that boarder international boundaries back to private property. Allow the land owner to 2nd amendment rights.

One of the more intense, if not typical nationwide, problems with illegal border crossings is the violent gang attacks on private property owners along and near the Mexican border. Telling the victims that they have "second amendment rights" to engage in gun fights is not an answer.

Of course people have a right to defend themselves when necessary -- the police can't be everywhere. But protection against criminals is a major function of government, and government should be where crime is expected and common so innocent people do not have to engage in gun fights.

Besides, leftists own property, too, and if "no trespassing or we shoot" is the only policy for illegal immigration, leftists owning property along the border are happy to say, "here is gateway, come on in".

Anarchy relying on private gun fights to resolve problems isn't a solution to anything. Part of the problem is that we already have border anarchy in many areas as a consequence of border policy anarchy.

It is not just a matter of "free stuff". The welfare state exists because of the broad acceptance of altruist collectivist premises. Without reversing that popular philosophical acceptance there will be no end to "giveaway programs". The country is becoming an international "welfare central" for the same reasons that domestic welfare statism is accepted.

A physical wall with gates and free passes is not an answer to the false premises and their acceptance. A wall might slow some of them down but not stop them now; with more extreme collectivists in power in the declining trend it would do nothing with gates wide open and invitations dropped from the sky worldwide.

This is an intellectual problem for the spread of the right ideas, not "free stuff" and physical walls trying to substitute for that.
Reply | Mark as read | Parent | Best of... | Permalink

Getting rid of the free stuff is more complex, and you describe it well, but it is the free stuff that is the problem.

Also agree that the wall is a substitute. They are attempting to deny the reality that the free stuff is the problem, and then the reality that the whole culture has to change to remove the free stuff.

Wanting something for free is not a problem without emotional appeals to altruism and collectivism to demand it as a moral duty. That is why we have welfare statism to begin with. That won't go away without changing the wrong philosophical ideas so widely accepted.

Government has its own method of crowd funding it’s many programs. It’s called taxation. One of the worse and most inefficient methods known to man.

That is why I initially thought of this a while ago. I have always advocated voluntary funding of worthy projects instead of government choosing winners and losers, government grants, subsidies.
Taxation is not only a use of indiscriminate force but harms those least able to survive being screwed.

Now, if we could do this without demos catching on...wouldn't that be a pisser! "we will not fund your wall Mr President"..."Oh, too late, it's already build!" then send them some solarcaine for their case of the red ass...

I mentioned a similar plan a while back. The wall is built in sections and each section costs $X dollars. Much the same as hospital wings and rooms the donors get to dedicate their section with a plaque or their business name on it. Lets say a section costs $100K. There are plenty of wealthy individuals and businesses willing to donate this amount and it could be tax deductible. The dems are attempting to portray a wall as some negative concept of the USA. Not so in the opinion of many millions of Americans who voted for DJT. I personally would support a massive march on DC with one sole purpose and slogan, NO WALL-NO WORK! Like the protests abroad but the only damage being done would be complete and absolute gridlock in our nations capital until our elected representatives hear us loud and clear and get off their asses. It is very apparent they have no intention of finding solutions and much prefer having issues to run on. All they do is blow smoke up our collective asses and it is high time they have an enema.

Yeah, I get that. What I'm saying it that I pay thousands in taxes every year. The funding should come from there.....but it won't because Pelosi and Schumer will obstruct. Even if a go-fund-me was successful and raised the $5Billion Trump wants for the Wall, would it get there, or swallowed up by some other lame program.....and if it were successful, you can bet that some liberal, Obama-appointed federal judge would block it. Trump can't win this one, you can't win this one, and the American people can't win this one....because....the powers against Trump are massive and unscrupulous... and the Wall won't allow it. Why?? You know why.

The "wall" has become a symbolic replacement for policy because Trump's emotional thinking is incapable of conceptual principles and policies. A lot of his emotional followers take it literally and are fixated on "The Wall" as if that were a solution, substituting a physical "wall" for rational principles and policies.

It is good that Trump is continuing to fight without backing down, at least so far, but his jumbled goals and slogans also include bad criteria like economic protectionism. The result is an anti-intellectual zoo that buries rational discussion of the proper principles and policies for an orderly implementation of the right to immigrate without threatening us with more welfare statism.

To let it all happen so we can build from the ashes. We are past stopping the inevitable, in my opinion. The sane thing to do would be to only allow US citizens to receive taxed paid benefits such as schools, housing and financial aid. But that just isn't going to happen. Building a wall is just a temporary determent. If you build it, they will come. They will always come.

I would happily send in my contribution. Not because I believe that it would solve anything but because I believe that good fences make good neighbors. It would act as a minor security measure.

What we need to do that is FAR more important is to stop the flow of all the Governmental monies. Stop the redistribution of wealth from those that produce to those that do not. They see all those "free" (well free to the looters) benefits and they want to live a life of leisure at our (the producers) expense.

That does not address the problem. Eliminating welfare is not a practical expectation and Congress still has to appropriate the funds.

A strategy of "cutting off aid" to Mexico with the expectation that the money would be used for a wall is not a practical solution because the money is not the reason a wall isn't being built.

If it's all but impossible to achieve an end to foreign aid welfare in the foreseeable future (not forever) then it's not a practical solution as a source of money for anything, let alone a border wall. And even with money not diverted to Mexico, with the current welfare magnet and the ongoing threat of an 'invasion by invitation' to help enact socialism here, they would still come. Regardless of saving money not sent to Mexico, Congress would still have to appropriate funding for a wall before it could be built, and more importantly, enact rational immigration laws to make a wall meaningful. Money no longer going to Mexico would not be enough for that to happen since collectivism, not money, is why the immigration problem is not being addressed.

Obviously I have over simplified the matter but this doesn't mean that the solution isn't viable it only means that it would require significantly more thought and work.

I personally believe that we should end ALL forms of welfare. Both internally and externally. That would free up significant revenue and end the incentive to come for many of those who ride the system presently.

The thought, work, and results to eliminate welfare statism also require time. The wall controversy is contemporary. Appeal to resentment and opposition to the looting to help motivate those with the best sense of life, but don't expect eliminating welfare statism to happen anywhere near soon enough to stop the invasion by invitation from the left.

So it's not a practical means to deal with the border problem now. If we -- or more precisely our followers -- eliminate welfare statism it will be because enough people have adopted a better philosophy after a long intellectual battle.

But there may very well ultimately be a civil war. Ayn Rand thought that it might come as a sense of life revolt against the intellectuals imposing collectivism, which would result in either civil war or dictatorship. Today it seems more likely to come (not now, but sometime in the future) as a senseless breakdown -- either from the left seeking more power, or from whatever is left of the 'right' opposing the practice of some form of statism but not knowing what to support and with no good principles behind it, leaving no "side" worthy of support.

I hardly think that we are in position here to make practical solutions, only high level suggestions.

As to whether or not this comes to a Civil war. I believe that we are basically in a cold civil war right now. I also do not believe that there is any hope of our side winning in a cold civil war. The other sides rhetoric is to loud and their systems are to entrenched. And while I do not wish for the bloodshed that I firmly believe will be necessary to turn things around. I also know that our side isn't ready as yet. We have not gelled together into a cohesive group. Too many on the Right think that the Left is only a little out of line and are willing to compromise in order to avoid violence. Too many feel that the Left is wrong but not about things that affect them so they do not care. Too many are just to darn passive. Not sure what it is going to take to get our side "Woke" but until it happens we will be forced to endure ever worsening violations of our rights.

From what I understand so far, all debt may very well be wiped out, "IF" and "When" the financial system, [the fed] is restructured and the dollar rebooted and backed by gold once again.

There are a lot of leftist activist Federal judges at all levels, probably still more than half. Trump's appointments to the viro agencies have not stopped their agenda; he reduced some of the regulations but did not eliminate the activist mentality entrenched within the agencies and the improper anti-private property rights laws.

Private funding of the wall is not legal. You can donate money to the government but not dictate how it is spent. Congress appropriates funds. Would you want a system of government in which political activists could give money to the government to impose government force for whatever they want?

Nope not me. It is a waste of time and money. The wall will do nothing for those who already here. It will do nothing to stop the flow. Here is a funny story for those who advocate for a strict immigration policy. You don’t like Mexicans? Well, they don’t like you either. They would be happy to return to Mexico if they had the right to cross the border at will. It is because of their legal status that keeps them in the country... anyway those are my two cents.

It's not about Mexicans, it's about funding their financial short falls. In Connecticut that comes to 800.00 per year per tax payer.
If they come legally, become American, speak English and were self sufficient there would be no problem.

I personally don't care where the illegals come from. I just want them to pay the same taxes that I as a citizen have to pay. Illegals largely work in ways that are not taxed yet they receive the benefits those of us legals are paying for. I see it daily working in the school system. Illegal children sitting in my classroom seats taking resources paid for by you and me away from our children. I mention nothing about behavior or the extra resources required to deal with their different culture or language. We have to be prepared for that in case of Legal immigrants and I welcome those. I just don't like the freeloaders and I care nothing about where they came from or their skin color.

Most of what government does at our expense is not a "benefit" to us at all -- we are not getting benefits for the taxes we pay; the money is used to impose controls and redistribute the wealth. Instead of resenting people who do not pay as much in taxes and advocate that they be taxed more, concentrate on reducing the tax system.

Where are you that students can attend public schools without paying taxes? In many states the local public schools are paid for with property taxes, with some state subsidies. In the northeast about 2/3 of property taxes go to the local government school system. Attending the local school requires residency in the town or city. Residents who rent have a landlord who pays the taxes. Property owners are being bilked, mostly for redistribution to legal citizens and the teachers' union, with little left over for police and fire protection.

In Texas if you claim to be homeless you are showered with a wide variety of things and cannot be turned away. Many illegals claim homelessness no matter their true living situation. They literally are given all the school supplies they might need along with clothes. Free lunches and breakfast plus any fees a normal student would have to pay are waived.
