It is absolutely real!

Pokes fun at the selfie generation — but not all millennials are laughing.

Players don’t pay rent — instead they visit one another, which affords them even more experience points.
Game pieces include a bicycle, a camera, and a — brace yourselves — a hashtag symbol.
Community Chest cards include “Your mom learned how to text! Advance to Go” along with “You get a fourth job. Hashtag hustle. Hashtag side gig. Hashtag NoDaysOff.”
One Chance card reads, “Your cellmate is sick of you vlogging about prison life. Get out of jail free.”
Among the rules is that the player with the most student debt rolls first

How about a Monopoly version for the new democratic socialists.

Too easy...every throw of the dice simply moves money from Boardwalk and Park Place to all the other spaces.

The game is over when all the money is gone and the owners of Boardwalk and Park Place are in Jail for not having more money to loot.

The game is not over! There still remains some of other peoples money in Pennsylvania Avenue, North Carolina Avenue and Pacific Avenue, which are ripe for collective reaping. And after that’s gone, there’s even more to loot! The game is over when all memories of capitalism are eliminated and wrong words are never again spoken, published, read, or thought.
The game is also over if mankind becomes extinct.

I’m not sure why there is money in this game. Everything should be free...

There is no money in this version of Monopoly. Players gain or lose experience points, which are represented as green thumbs up or red thumbs down tokens. Perfect if you have been constantly taught that money is an evil invention of the oppressive white patriarchal hierarchy.

“Players don’t buy up properties; they collect “experiences” — such as a weeklong meditation retreat, bellying up to an artisanal coffee bar, heading to the vegan bistro or the farmer’s market, or simply your friend’s couch or your parents’ basement.”

While I don't like the Socialistic attitude of many millennials, who taught them to be like that? Generation X? And who taught Generation X ? In a way, we "baby boomers" should admit we were a somewhat "spoiled" generation, brought up with TV, with a lot of prosperity that our parents hadn't had, expecting to have cars (that is, many of us), etc. Except for the Vietnam war, when American young men were drafted to go into a war that seemed to have no valid purpose, with even the leaders of the country saying, "We're not trying to get a military victory."

Speak for yourself. I worked hard for everything. No one from my era (born in the 50's) has been in charge of the looters in DC; its always been looters from the so called "greatest generation" and looters from decades afterward. I haven't wanted any handouts and I still don't. I can see clearly what the looters have stolen from all hard working Americans and if you look at the skylines of all major cities you can see it, too. Banksters from federally blessed banks and Wall St have been stealing from everyone else for over 100 years. I don't expect any peaceful political process will change that. We are guilty of not revolting when it is the only rational course of action.

Funny concept, but on a more serious note, I wonder what social upheavals will arise when the boomer generation dies out, leaving vast amounts of real estate and wealth to their progeny, leaving 80% of the younger generation with nothing. I can imagine the argument: "You didn't work for your money (and if you're white, your parents gained their wealth illegitimately) so you have no right to all of it; you must share."

One thing I did find interesting (that the reviewer missed) was that the "experience" tokens had both positive and negative "points" awards on the backs, meaning that for any given random "experience", it could have a range of outcomes. This kind of bothers me because it employs a random view of life and could very easily sustain a victimhood mentality.

    Hysterical!

What I also found amusing were the comments from the triggered. Don't they realize that all they are doing is reinforcing their stereotype as pampered snowflakes? If you can't learn to poke a little fun at yourself, you are going to live a triggered life.
