Tis is very interesting, and goes to the root of the problem. The idea of a Republic has been quashed, yet I believe this is a critical Ayn Rand idea, and something Atlas Shrugged illustrated, the evil of Democracy.

We had been warned about the evils of the Demon Ocracies. If memory serves, first by Plato, then Lock and of course, our forefathers.

Not really arguing that point, however, out of the 2 parties that have power on an excercisable level (and libertarians do not) who would be more likely to preserve the Republic? That is the point. It is not a fun point, but I also think the ones who have trashed the Republic the most are the "RINO" kind. Clean them out and maybe we have a better chance of restoration.

One of the first acts of the Republican Party was to destroy the republic and install an oppressive dictatorship, so, I would not say they are "likely to support and retain a Republic." They destroyed it.

Exactly, however, we also have to acknowledge that, out of the 2 parties the current system supports, the Republicans are the ones most likely to support and retain a Republic, the Democrats are going to promote the mob rule...er Democratic chaos. I wholeheartedly agree that a lot is propaganda, but the target audience is just being shown the 2 choices. You can;'t ask the sheeple to go much further until the evil devil on their shoulders saying "free stuff" and "racist, homophobe, anti black, anti poor" etc" is silenced, or muted.

I agree with the very basic statement that America is a republic, not a democracy.
However, the goals of the Republican party are not to establish a republic or to protect the rights of individuals. The Republican party is just as much in favor of democracy as the Democrats. The name of the party is, in the jargon of the War Drummer, just another spell cast to confuse and brainwash the people. Do not equate the republican form of government to the Republican party. They are not even similar; they are nearly opposites.

Most of this video is Republican Party propaganda, but the basic truth included with the rubbish is that democracy is a method used by the few to control the many.
A republican form of government as implemented by America's founders strictly limits central government and protects the rights of individuals. Neither the Republican Party nor the Democratic Party are in favor of a republican form of government; that form would strip them of their power to enslave us.
