Trade War Update: China May Have Shot Self In Foot

So, this is why free markets are needed, and why I do not think that the Trump trade war is that bad, because it is an effort to undo all the crap the Cabal put in place to control prices, supplies, money and availability. If anything, Trump is making an effort to show that tariffs are a dead end for all concerned. But he has a huge uphill battle, and an internal one as well, as in the US there is many forms of tariffs and restrictions that need to be dismantled. I cannot say I see a good answer for the current conglomerate farming that has pushed the demand for farm subsidies, where they get paid huge amounts to do nothing, I am not sure how that works, but it seems the less control of markets and the free trade efforts, are better than any government controls.

When Trump raised the tariff on soy I said that soy farmers should switch part of their production to something else. With a market glut it appears that is still a decent move. Unfortunately, its not something that can be done instantly, and by next growing season the tariff could be different. Farming is not an easy business.

No it is not, my father in law had a dairy farm/chickens/dairy/corn and he worked his a@@ off. My brother in law makes more as a well driller than he ever did dairy, but still has 50 or 60 cows. I thought it was interesting China will need the soy, no matter what, for their cows and feed, so they are just spiting themselves.

I hope the farmers realize that China can transform their food industry just as they did their manufacturing industry if the costs of dependency become too high.
I wish Americans would realize the costs of dependency.

That is true, but it also means they need a vastly superior infrastructure and money available for water, irrigation, power and equipment, so some of the South China Sea Islands have to go.....

Now that the food has been threatened it just moves the timetable forward and adds to their priority for removing the USD from its dominance - as soon as they have adequately insulated themselves from dependence. They are wisely using the dollars we send them to increase their INDEPENDENCE. If only the American people did the same. Instead Americans keep buying iphones in the millions for $800 each so they can spend all day posting their personal secrets to the CIA's toady Facebook - and their most sirious concern is that Siri can't spell.

That is very true, although the whole phone and computer thing is illustrative of the issue. Business cannot find enough people to be smart enough to manufacture without cheap labor, yet it can be done.
