In looking for some references of the use of propaganda to persuade a society of a specific point (as we see going on today with the Kavanaugh debacle), I found this tid bit. I don't have the background to fact check all of it, but what I do know is it seems like a good review of just how the primary media of the day was controlled and used to present whatever it was the people in the state wanted the masses to think. Of course this was also true of all the countries, even the U.S. "free press" was pretty controlled and fed news, but some journalists actually went to the field and reported, though censored. But it is a good run through of how you use the media, and how you use the tools to make a society believe what you want, and some of the rules they followed. "The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan.” Hmmm, so factually, Trump is in a better position with MAGA, and Q is also following this with WWG1WGA (not saying good or bad people use this exclusively, noting that the Trump side seems to have better lessons learned, as the only thing deep state has is the Nike Just Do It).

Some media entities are starting to get the message that unless they stick to the facts they're destined to go down in flames. The New York Times interviewed at least three dozen people to see if anyone could verify Kavanaugh's second accuser's story of how the judge exposed himself to her when he was a freshman at Harvard. When no one backed up her story, the NYT declared it either an outright lie or a case of mistaken identity, refusing to pile on the witch hunt. Hopefully the "grey lady" will continue to seek a return to credibility.

      Yes Dr Z,
I was surprised to see the fake news challenge the
Second Kavanaugh accusers charge. If they the NYTimes start to practice journalism we will all be better off.

Ah, the "failing NYT" I have to laugh at his labels, he has no tact, which is refreshing. $ always drives their change, so maybe when that is hit, they have to jerk like an old brontosaurus and get off the cactus they are laying on.

Here's a thought: Try not watching ANY television for a year. Since I moved to Santa Fe that is what I have done. Result: Far more centered, peaceful, calm, happy. Santa Fe is a cesspool any way. I limit my input to what I get through my laptop, which even though I tailor my feeds to what I think appropriate, I still am better informed about the world than any one else in Santa Fe, I assert, since all the info here is hard left wing crap. Try it; you'll like it, and be a better and more informed person. Why am I here, you ask? That's a subject for another tirade. (Peace, man, as we used to say in the sixties. I'm 75.)

Patiently waiting for the next tirade. :-)
I've visited Santa Fe a few times, and would be interested in what it's like to live there. I'm also 75.

Briefly, the Jane Fonda's and ilk live in the east side hills off Canyon Road, regular people, whatever that is, live south in gated communities, and it's a free-for-all elsewhere (red light running is very common). Tourists go to the Plaza. South of Santa Fe a few miles along the Turquoise trail are old cowboys, sixties hippies, artists, and us (I fit most all the categories). Widespread poverty, local paper owned by the WaPo, corruption rampant, heavily Democratic. Weather fairly good. But I have a view and a laptop and my art to keep me sane.

At least the burden of social engineering is less than Kalifornia. Why isn't Jane Fonda living in the Mecca of social Justice aka Los Angeles County? That's not very egalitarian of her....

Great column about hate and the left in today's WSJ, and Jon Voigt talked about the power of propaganda in his interview with Mark Levin a couple of weeks ago. He had been a 1960s leftist and sees the same hateful propaganda coming from the left now. I see it where I live every day, sanctimonious yards signs vaguely insinuating hate for Trump.

The invention of political propaganda as put forth by Joseph Goebbels has become the template for the use of propaganda by governments. Political parties especially those in power believe that its OK for it to be used by them because they're the good guys. Of course, if each party is the good guys who are the bad guys? The sad fact is that both parties use propaganda to slant the truth and destroy opponents. More expert at this appears to be the left. Bereft of ideas and honesty, the left has resorted to lies dressed up as compelling truth while being nothing of the kind.Herr Goebbels' spirit is smiling through the brimstone as he sees his legacy being put to use.

I am a Trump voter and supporter.
I think it is good to have competition. But , do you think Trump would act the same if he could censor anti-Trump news?

If Trump had the power to censor news sites, blogs, Twitter, etc. I don't think he would ever use it. Not out of any moral virtue on his part, but because people would find out and it would be counterproductive. It would be shooting himself in the foot, just like Facebook and Twitter are doing now.

Exactly, their clear bias and lies are just helping him that much, and is good advertising for Republicrats in Nov. Trump would never stop them from blowing themselves up.

Here's a thought me dino has never had before. I wonder if George Soros has ever attempted to buy out Fox News.
Doing so would petty much bundle up the lib propaganda Fake News Juggernaut.
That would leave dinky little Newmax whose effect would likely be negligible. .

I have believed for some time that Soros has some kind of threat, probably blackmail, over Rupert Murdoch. Why do you think Glenn Beck lost his Fox show shortly after going after Soros on the air?

So in effect, Soros already owns Fox, and Sky and the WSJ as well.

I am willing to be that Q has the tap on Soros, but you are probably correct, too many Fox people who attacked the left got tossed, Hannity held on only because he is a big money maker, and a lot of hate mail went to Fox, but yes.

Well Fox has been somewhat tainted by the 2 sons who are liberal sympathizers, who took over after dad got tossed, and are slowly weeding it down. But they are also greedy and Fox has the best ratings, so greed vs politics....hmmm hard choice for them..

Fox can at times become too fair and balanced for old dino's stomach when some sapheaded lib on a panel or as a guest spews overmuch.
That's why me dino loves my remote. It helps me surf so well for a little while.
Sometimes I can actually find something altogether different to watch.
Do believe that's how I found Orville.

All my far left acquaintances (can't say friends) absolutely hate Fox, which is good enough for me. :-) They must be doing a good job.

Fox News on TV as a whole isn't great but it's good for all we got.
Hannity (8pm CT M-F) who nightly brings on investigative journalist Sara Carter with dirt on the Mueller Witch Hunt is great. (He's also on my local radio late afternoon right now). Save for at times showing clips and video collages of libs making fools of themselves, Hannity rarely does "fair and balanced" verbal dances with those conniving clowns.
Tucker (7pm CT M-F) does way to much of that. Does Tucker not know that pain hurts?

That is true. Tucker seems to stand up, but they let Juan get on and babble and then some dem polster who still says Hillary will win or something....

Two days ago I was cussing and snatching up my remote when the repulsive face of a happily smiling guest dem said on Fox that Kavanaugh should just bow out of his nomination solely because he had received an accusation from a woman.
Got to thinking while channel surfing that would be quite the system. Every GOP nominee would be quitting because the Dems would always have an accuser waiting for each and every one of them..
That way, only Dem nominees could every become a Supreme Court justice. Well, woopie wow.

When these libs show their ignorance it gives me hope that they have no chance. They are to be pitied. How could Juan's sons be conservative? I think that Juan down deep is not as lib as he portrays. He is in it for the money.

I don't know he seems to go in phases, like someone tells him he is not "liberal" enough. You never know what side he will be on, but he usually sound so insincere on the liberal topics, you have to think he is just mouthing the words.

You apparently don't realize how much the Soros clan NEED Fox News. They need to know what their dupes, collaborators and scabs are thinking. How else will they continue their subversion?

The real enemy is not Soros or his minions, but those who keep things going until they're ready to take over.

Those who always keep the loot from running out: the men and women of the mind who need but to live in a world that knows how to mind its own business and refrain from shackling them to the "needs" of others.

This is confusing "Those who always keep the loot from running out:" then you say "the men and women of the mind who need but to live in a world that knows how to mind its own business and refrain from shackling them to the "needs" of others.". One says people who somehow manufacture money, the other indicates people who actually produce but are shackled to the current world order. Can you provide some names? Put faces on the ghosts?

Ghosts have no faces. And I never mentioned money. Either one's life is theirs (and they know it), or whatever they do or produce belongs to others. So long as any individual of ability allows others (any other) to assume the prerogatives of ownership over their life, over their mind, actions or desires, then such energy as squeezed from them will be used to enslave the rest.

That's why it wasn't Wesley Mouch et. al. that Galt was fighting. It was Hank and Dagney. They're the ones prolonging the agony, allowing the avowed killers to hold mankind a hostage. Take a lesson from Roark: It isn't worth it. Blow it up.

If Trump were anything like an Ayn Rand hero, he would never have tried to beat the looters at a game where they set the philosophic terms, the cultural rot at the core spreading ever outward (and inward if you're honest). Trump would lead a general strike.

But Trump is the enemy of any would-be Galt. Think you Snowden would stand a chance if Trump's administration got a hold of him? That's why I insist there is no fundamental difference between Mr. Trump and Mr. Thompson: they're both "deal-makers" (and that's all they are).

I never mentioned money but as a possible description of a vague term. All relationships require trade, trade of mind for tangible reward, therefore a relationship must be established. Look at the Gulch, it had trade for individual effort and value for value. There never was a claim made in AS that you live by mind alone, it was built into the concept of value for value, A=A. Galt made that clear to Dagney when she breaks in. Galt was not fighting Hank and Dagney, he was trying to show them that supporting the corrupt cabal was just prolonging the agony. When they unite and go get Galt, they take the action needed to free themselves of the tyranny, exactly as Trump and Q are doing. You must fight within the structure of the system, the Isolationist Movement prior to WW2 in the US found that out.
