America’s Kristallnacht?

The fate of Julian Assange is the fate of one man, but it is also the fate of one of our most important freedoms. There won’t be shattered plate glass from vandalized businesses littering the streets, synagogues smashed, graves unearthed, or people herded onto trains. But his prosecution by the US government would destroy an inestimable value, one enshrined in the First Amendment, for which generations of Americans have fought and died: the right of the people and its press to inform the people and to hold their government to account.

I am reminded of other examples of government overreach that reached my sense of outrage.
Ruby Ridge and Waco come to mind.

There are more than that. How about the PTL club with Jim Bakker, where they railroaded him into prison and shut down what was a perfectly viable christian retreat.
Then theres the Bagwan thing in I think Oregon, and the Mormons who wanted polygamy.

If we started a gulch, and it was successful, they would come after us also. Be forewarned. Hiding in plain sight is a much better way to survive.

Seems Maxine Waters has already called for "Kristallnacht’s hooliganism".

A prosecution of Assange would be an assassination of truth and justice no matter if Assange is independent, backed or owned by Russia or some other entity. He has exposed wrong doing and has done it in a non-biased manner.

Hillary hid her emails so the opposition wouldnt find out what she was doing, but we let her get away with that. There was no other reason to use a private email server- PERIOD. All Assange did was tell US what our government was doing that we would be outraged about. The more they try to isolate him, the more crooked I think our goverenment really is.

True, the fight for the freedom of speech should not be based on whether you agree with any particular person is saying.
The Tommy Robinson's and Julian Assange's should be defended regardless of what they are saying.

Agree, and that includes Edward Snowden, who I believe is more likely to suffer for his whistleblowing than Assange. I would be surprised if Putin hasn't already offered to trade him for something he wants.

Snowden is a thorn in the American side. Putin relishes giving him asylum to thumb his nose at Obama. I love it. He isnt going to trade him. Its a done deal. Snowden should get a pardon, and I hoped Trump would have done it. But, alternatively, Trump has called for his execution, which is just STUPID

The government is just circling the wagons to protect itself from its people. I am disappointed Trump didnt already pardon Snowden and Assange.

"Rome was not built in a day". Patience, grasshopper, one step at a time. I'm thinking Trump does everything on a timeline leading up to a convergence of events which should come to light just before midterms.
Then, there will be the squalling and gnashing of teeth from the left, and the deep state.
      Maybe its just me.

I understand. The establishment decries ANYTHING that he does or doesnt do, so it slows things down. BUT, that said, he already announced that Snowden is a traitor and should be executed, and Assange is guilty also.

Mr. Gore is totally right. It would be nice, however if Assange was a less creepy character. This is the perfect role for a hero, but it is disappointing when such a clear moral conflict falls on a weasel of large proportions. Ah well, Free speech is either free to everyone, even creeps, or it's not free at all..If the USA is not to take those first or second steps down the road to totalitarian hell it must recognize that it is not a matter of agree or disagree, but of free or not free. Pompeo is full of frijoles.

    Hello Robert,
Very well written piece. I can see where you have concluded The Trump admin wants Assange , but I think you may not be correct as to why. Optics are very important in Wash DC. What has been presented could be disinformation. Assange has the conclusive dirt on the UK's collusion with Obama to usurp Trump. He also has the dirt on Awan Bros. TREASON {DWS}.
And Seth Rich . It blows the deep states Russion collusion out of the water. From a Q post. JA is Jullian Assange SR is Seth Rich.

Server or JA = truth exposed (SR).
    D’s are in crisis mode.
AWAN is bigger than you can imagine.
Putin / U1 will come out post summit (they will try to apply artificial MSM heat to cancel).
These people are corrupt beyond belief.
    America for sale.
    Sold out.

It's sensational but true that we don't know when we've crossed the Rubicon until we have historical perspective.

People are relinquishing their rights now. Wait until the next big emergency, maybe a dirty bomb that causes radiation sickness in a one- block radius. People will be even more eager to increase gov't powers, even powers unrelated to the attack.

I agree, and the process has been accelerating since Reagan was shot. When Trump convinces me that his intentions are good is when I should really worry. That particular worry hasn't been evident since Reagan's first term.

It seems like the First and Second are under attack by various groups. The Feds. States, Congressional
Representatives (who no longer represent their constituency). I don't understand why this has been building since the adoption of the Constitution. Now the Deep State seems to have created a two-tiered justice system. We the People don't matter anymore! Have citizens of this country have become complacent with their faces glued to their cell phones?
