Andrew Cuomo shocks crowd, says America 'was never that great'

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo may have just handed Republicans a ready-made campaign ad for his rumored 2020 presidential bid – by declaring Wednesday that America “was never that great.”

The Democratic star made the seemingly offhand remark as part of his rebuke of President Trump's "Make America Great Again" slogan during a New York speech. But the line drew gasps from the crowd.

“We’re not going to make America great again. It was never that great,” Cuomo said, to an awkward blend of gasps and chuckles.

The guy has got to be nuts. At this time in the political calendar and with the current political climate he says that? Just plain NUTS.

Relatively speaking...it has been the greatest. No arguing that, really.

As a liberal, he is right that America never was wildly liberal like him. If greatness is defined as collectivist in its entirety, America has never been great

Nicely said, GaryL. Commie Chuck Schumer is a big name you can add to the list.

"Don't blame it on all NYers, we are stuck with the idiots who inhabit NYC and a few other metro cities and the good ones are far outnumbered." I want to leave the Peoples Republic of NY, but haven't found where I want to go.

How can a seemingly politically hip guy make a stupid statement like that? It goes to show that when you peel away the phony rhetoric the Democrats accidentally reveal their true beliefs.

America never was perfect. So what? That doesn't mean it hasn't been great.

Personally, I never thought Andrew Cuomo was that great. He brings to light to me that democrats are the "naysayers", are the people that say, "You can't do that", "It won't work", or "You didn't build it, someone else did". Thank God my parents were republicans, they always told me I could do (almost) anything I put my heart too. Brings to mind another revelation, maybe (most) democrats don't have hearts. Can anyone name one with a heart today? It's pretty difficult, huh? The only one's I know with a heart, some friends and even some relatives, just don't have a properly functioning brain. Since these few won't talk politics we can still get along. That part of their brain still functions, it's just called deception.

Cuomo's, Beginning with Mario the father and both sons Andrew and Chris all grew up with silver spoons shoved down their throats that were bought and paid for by we the NY Tax Payers. What he said was not a gaff and is exactly how he views our country, "It has never been that great". Too bad we dumass new yorker's will keep right on reelecting fools like him, Del Blasio, Ocasio-Cortez and we even elected Hitlary. Don't blame it on all NYers, we are stuck with the idiots who inhabit NYC and a few other metro cities and the good ones are far outnumbered.

He doesn't know anything about the Real America. He has spent his entire life in......GAWD I hate to even say it.....New Yawk. Yes there are a tiny few good folks that have been trapped there and unable to get out. So, y'all few don't start yelling at me. Cuomo wallows in the slime of ignorance. He has NO idea.

Another leftist shows his true colors. I do think that this moron gave Molinaro, Nixon, et al the greatest gift of all: campaign fodder. If I was running against this idiot, a video of his comment would be in every single ad I ran between now and election day.

You mean honest about admitting his ignorance or honest about "America has never been that great"?

Just keep digging your hole, idiots. Cuomo thinks Hussein is still in power.

The deeper it is the better for us.
