What's telling are all of his ideological buddies who are calling him out for exposing their true agenda: progressives really do think of themselves as elitists and the rest of us as peons to do their bidding.

Next time I have to visit San Francisco, I will be carrying (straws) concealed. Brightly colored, so that the wait staff won't get into trouble. Will they arrest me? I'm a tall black female senior citizen. What are the chances?

Good luck, Vegasrenie, on your mission. A good tactic may be to stealthily wait until other folks get up from the table and leave, then slip over and put straws in their empty glasses. Enjoy your meal while you watch the show. LOL!

Santa Barbara. Notice how these a-holes always take over the most beautiful places first?

Isnt the fact that its a beautiful place exactly THE place to enact such stupidity. Thats because they figure people will still come there and spend money anyway. If it was a sh$%hole, why bother controlling the few people who will go there

Yeah, that's probably pretty accurate. They hold natural beauty hostage and demand ransom. They've done it in almost every beautiful beach community in California. I won't name the one or two they haven't ruined yet out of fear they're reading this...

California is a beautiful place. It used to be in the 60's the place to make ones fortune. Manufacturing was going strong, the beaches were great, and there were a lot of great places to visit. The weather was great too. I left in 1990, and by that time its wasnt so free anymore, the taxes had been hiked a lot, traffic fines were ridiculous, and business regulations got prettĀ„ bad. I moved to Vegas, where it hadn't yet been populated by leftists. I would say it took maybe 15-20 years for the california people to move here and corrupt this place. Now you cant even start a business UNTIL it is approved by the city, and they dont approve UNTIL you build out what you want to the city codes and regulations, and THEN they come inspect and potentially approve it. Right out of AS.

Last time I was in Calif a couple of years ago, I saw the wealth remaining there, but the picture in AS of the oak tree what was rotten in the center came to mind. It really felt like a hollow place.

All utopian ideologies revolve around the same premise: that people can't govern themselves and must be led and controlled by an all-knowing, more intelligent elite. Of course, that bald, narcissistic premise is never stated publicly, hidden behind the pink clouds, unicorns, and rainbows of all the wonderfulness that will result when "the people" (the unwashed ignorant) accept the goodness of collectivist leadership.

"...that people can't govern themselves ..." The scary thing here, Doc, is after having two terms of Obummer and all the fawning over the new Socialist Babe, maybe some of these elitists have a point.

Ah, the complex human mind. The truth often goes subliminal and is stored way back there with first attempts at sex.But as the hidden truths pile up, every once in a while, even the lib's own brain gets tired of hiding them and one slips out and must be negated quickly. That is my totally bogus explanation of how such things happen. Don't forget old Hypocrates..

Large or small (tyrants) they would all like to control every aspect of others lives. The only surprise here is that most slave masters are smart enough not to admit what they intend lest they wake the slaves. A rhetorical remark is asked merely for the effect with no answer expected. It seems it was expected that any who listened to this 'official' was expected to just expect that this is a good thing and not respond.

Now I know what city to NOT visit or spend any money in. Thank you, politician, for telling me in advance. What a stupid law.

This article can definitely serve as amazingly simple fodder for ANY candidate who wants to run against these knuckleheads. When's their next election???

So "regulat[ing every aspect of people's lives"] is now "common sense"?
It irritates me when people who push things that are wrong (such as denying people's right to self-defense) compliment themselves, or their proposals, by calling them "common sense". Is that supposed to be some cover-up for tyranny?---Of course it is.

And millions of people, yes millions, vote for this.
They actually vote for, "I am incompetent, please leaders save me."
      Beyond my ability to comprehend.

When Slick Willie was elected, I saw him on TV arm-in-arm with a brand new First Lady, the future Candidate Cackles The Evil Hag.
Both smiled at an admiring crowd from which came forth a guy with a ponytail.
The ponytail guy asked them, "How will you take care of us?"
Perhaps due to my groaning, I can't recall what response if any followed.
I've tried to find a video of this but have failed to me dino sorrow.

I found what you are looking for on Rush's website, but not a video. The event took place on October 15, 1992 in Richmond, VA. It was the second presidential debate between Bush, Clinton, and Perot. Rush states the question that the "ponytail" guy asks: "How can we, as symbolically the CHILDREN of the future president, expect the two of you, the three of you, to meet our needs?" I remember wanting to strangle this idiot. Hey, I'll take care of myself...thank you very much.

Thanks for your help. Me dino likes being able to verify things remembered.
Appears that a dino memory condenses blather of the creaky past to the nitty-gritty like Reader's Digest alleges does to articles and feature stories.
Though I originally saw the ponytail guy on TV, now I also recall Rush making fun of him on the radio.

You are most welcome. Rush brings this ponytail guy up periodically to show the lunacy of the Left. Whenever Rush does, I shout at the radio in agreement with him, "I have parents, they brought me up to be self-sufficient. I don't need the
              government to be my parents."

Isnt the purpose of government to take from the producers and give to the non-producers, or did I miss something.

That purpose chugs along at a big time high only when socialist Democrats are running things.
In his last speech that me dino listened to last week, Trump claimed people receiving food stamps is at a big time low.
So it looks like socialists aren't running things for the time being.
Do not fret. The ponytail purpose of government shall return to full steam once the wrong people get to run things again.
Trust the media to help out with that.

It "chugs along", becoming worse, all the time, not just when socialist Democrats are fully in charge. Republicans add to it as they all build a constituency for their subsides, making them impossible to get rid of in a society that embraces altruism and unearned guilt as an excuse for statism. Without that there would be no "socialists running things".

That Trump claim is muddied. It's only down from the Obama highs. It's still far higher than at any other time in history. I don't fault Trump for that - I only point out that we still have a LONG way to go.

The other program that has really ramped up that people tend to miss is Social Security Disability. The numbers on that one just keep going up and its a racket.

SSDI is a total scam. It is a complete fraud. Thinking about it makes my blood nearly boil.

My neighbor to the north of me went on it Nine years ago... A "Bad Back" he claimed to have. Then, two years ago, I hear a sound (I work from home in IT / telecommute). I look out my window and see a man chopping firewood with an overhand motion and ax ... loading a wheel barrow. This is the guy with the "bad back." He is also working a garden, walks dogs up and down the relative high points in the community ... and his wife will exclaim, "George has been working his ass off!" -- then she realizes what she has said, and quickly lowers her eyes and leaves the room. George just shrugs. BTW -- she is a teacher in WA State ... recently retired with a solid gold state teacher's pension. One more brick in the layer of unfunded govt liabilities.

Once on SSDI, the checks just keep rolling in. My neighbors to the east ... he is on it for a "bad back" and can often be seen conducting efforts on his woodworking projects. His wife is on it for "fibromyalgia" -- the disease with the dubious distinction of being diagnosed based on its symptoms. She lovingly cares for her raised-bed garden and flowers.

It is a fraud. One of my old friends used to work as a Private Investigator -- his bread and butter was researching workers comp fraud. That business has vanished -- the State kicks these cases up to the Federal level. Get the support of an attorney that specializes in SSDI and you are now on the gravy train. It is costing nearly $200 Billion a year and sends checks to 11 million adults ... equal to the entire population of Washington, Oregon and Idaho. It is sickening.

Project Veritas or one of the other "Expose the Liberal Scams" groups should point a spotlight on this disease.

BTW: I have movies of my neighbor and his Lumberjack antics.

My ex (we still talk) saw an able-bodied father of a thief go into a SS hobbling on a cane he bought somewhere. He must be the proverbial tree a bad apple fell out of.
And there's that gossip about (an at the time) fellow corrections officer who bought a cane before hobbling into the warden's office with a disability claim. He got it too. Then he became a farmer and has been seen without a cane.

Yup. Once you get a SSD lawyer - who gets paid just to help people get on SSD - and your paperwork is in, they will retroactively give you money and then keep on giving it to you. No questions asked. (My brother-in-law started as a personal injury lawyer and now is a full-time SSD lawyer.)

If it were up to me, this program would disappear overnight. Let State governments engage in this at their own peril but to me this is for private charities only. They have local oversight and usually care about the money they are spending.
