In March of 1993, The United States Supreme Court issued a ruling in Reno v Flores. (Yes, “That” Reno. Janet Reno, Bill Clinton’s first Attorney General who ordered that young Elian Gonzalez be torn from his family’s arms while hiding in a Miami closet. You might remember the iconic photograph.)

The Court in Reno v Flores decided that minors could not be incarcerated with the adults accompanying them across the United States border illegally. The decision was the result of a long dispute in how to best care for these children while the adults were detained for criminal proceedings.

As a result, The Flores case drew a line in the sand. Children could not be incarcerated with their parents or accompanying adult while being held for illegal immigration violations. And a subsequent 1997 agreement stipulated that children must be placed in a safer environment where they could enjoy certain privileges, including education, a clean, safe environment and other normal life cycle amenities that incarcerated individuals do not enjoy.

It was considered a “victory” for human rights. By separating adult and child, we protected the children, reducing any harm done to them for their parent’s or accompanying adult’s decisions

Many recent fake news stories show photos from 2014 when complaining about the undocumented illegal alien childrens care under Trump admin.

The major flaw in the Reno v Flores decision (and should we be surprised given the fact that it was the Ninth Circuit not the Supreme Court) is that they failed to acknowledge the fact that the children are also guilty of illegally crossing the borders if they come with their parents! The children should have been incarcerated - and separated from the adults - until their cases were heard and either the entire family was sent back (the normal judgment) or the entire family was granted asylum. Just because they were children at the time doesn't grant them carte blanche immunity from prosecution!

Me dino certainly hopes so. I've heard the same prediction more than once made on Fox TV and radio.

In a nutshell, The Jackass Party only cares about OH, THE CHILDREN! when they can be used as a power hungry political football. End game? Open borders.

And last but not least...the video's you see on TV are from 2014 and let's also not forget that when 10's of thousands of unaccompanied children were dropped off at the border and Democraps didn't Care!...sounds Psychopathic Narcissistic to me...

In the photos being shown a good number of those don't appear to be 'children'. Young adults would be more correct. And, these are only a few of what is probably the truth. Where is Mexico's responsibility to these children? What about the other countries they come from? Why is it the U. S. responsibility?

I remember very well the armed police wrestling young Gonzales from his uncle's arms (I believe it was his uncle).

Yes, that was a monumental "achievement" by this woman (the other being WACO).

It was an eerie reminder of the Gestapo arresting Jewish people during the War.
