khalling came up with a good idea that I think is worth expanding on. Let's see what great ideas we can come up with for a board game that follows Atlas Shrugged's theme and principals. (Is Shrugged's a word?? It's pretty hard to pronounce.)
So please contribute your ideas, for questions/tasks/etc that a player would have to answer or accomplish correctly to move forward in the game. C'mon, it'll be fun! We ARE allowed to have fun in the Gulch!

That would be great. It's about a 25-30 minute drive going North on Rt. 65. Do it today. You'll be glad you did. Don't ask how I know this. :)

Yes, no passing go and getting $ just for doing so. And what if there is ownership, etc. other players would have to pay for the use of said "property" or item?

Right, like your game piece could land on a place that says 'sabotage', and you that's when a looter would move in on you. Do you destroy the infiltrator, destroy your property/company/go Galt, roll over like a bug?

I would send it in insulated packaging to keep them nice and toasty. Don't want soggy buns either, so have a separate container for the chili. Whaddaya think? Gosh, now I'm hungry!

your ability to produce is based on your level of technology. there are two ways to increase your level of technology. You can invent or you can purchase someone else's technology. I say one pass around the board to increase wealth/happiness. then if accepted into the gulch, you go around again, with other challenges and rules.

It sounds like there would have to be cards involved, maybe for scenario descriptive purposes, e.g., 'The SSI wants your newest invention and is offering a bribe/ veiled threat, what do you do?' Something like that I think. Roll dice: depending on result, determines your choice? 8 OR higher (using 2 dice) means you deny the SSI, thus induce increased threats, 7 or below means you capitulated. Just ideas to kick around.

I guess I'm having a hard time with an emphasis on rules. the game objectives should be straight forward, and any player pursuing meeting those objectives should prosper, some strategies will be more successful than others.

so there's JG, someone in charge of defining and calling rule violations. Are you envisioning a card game then?

I think it would be a great teaching tool. Make it so anyone can play, but to get into the Gulch, you have to make it through the game. I know some that would never have the right answers and would be Out on their Butts.... and that would be soooo much fun....

Hot Chocolate? Nope, I'd rather have 4 dogs w/Chili & Cheese from the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe. Add a large fry w/sauce too. So, jump in your car, drive up to New Brighton, it'll be on the left, across from the church and send it right away to the mid-west. THANKS!

Absolutely. Perhaps bringing someone inside who's not approved/vetted by JG, thus endangering the Gulch and players/citizens. Anything along those ideas.

What should be the penalty for persistent rule-breakers? Permanent expulsion to The Outside? Obviously, rules have to be established first.
