OMG! Is this what The Libertarian Party has sunk to??

I thought it was failing when Gary Johnson ran as a representative for the Libertarian Party, but this is much worse. What is happening? I believe in freedom and liberty, but this, to me, is not freedom ans liberty. He thinks the Taliban have a good system!

Read the article: "Bill Redpath, a Libertarian party official, told The Post that Larson was expelled from the Libertarian Party of Virginia last year."

The way elections work, pretty much anyone can run on any party ticket. It takes some effort to get them off yours. Right now, I am registered as a Democrat. (Just sayin'...)

In any case, the LP has deeper problems than this. As much as they talk about the same things that are important to Objectivists, the party rests on a philosophical base that is 100% antithetical to liberty, freedom, and a society whose laws are based on reason and reality. They are for liberty the way that the Democratic party is for democracy and the Republican party is for a republic. It is just a word they use to get votes.

All my life they've been extreme. Even when they are truly libertarian, they often have radical demands like eliminating the federal gov't as we know it almost instantly. I think they should take a much more moderate approach like saying no nominal growth in gov't spending. They would work that into a catchy slogan. It's radical considering how spending has been increasing rapidly all my life, but it sounds moderate and reasonable enough to have a shot at getting a majority of voters. Johnson tried really hard to do this. He wasn't ready to play at that level as a politician, but he really tried to say he was a moderate who would use the office to push us in the direction of less gov't. He had to dance over issues like legalizing all drugs instantly and ending laws that protect minorities. He did a decent job of saying he wanted to move in those directions but not in a way that would scare average voters concerned about drugs and discrimination.

Since I don't subscribe and never would consider it, I can't read the entire article, but the part that says he's running describes him as an "independent libertarian." Apparently his or the WaPost's description. Not Libertarian. A Libertarian Party official said he was expelled from the party in 2017.
Note also that this is the WaPost, the center for biased, fake news (south of the NYT.)

When I look at him I just see a punching bag with ears. My reaction to people like this is...dangerous...

The Libertarian Party is a total joke. I love the basic concept. But, the Party has nothing to do with it.
