NFL Distraction

Last night my wife had the news on again and I overheard the first story. It was a lengthy description of all the ins-and-outs of the NFL management moves to manage the kneeling players. I couldn't believe the passion of the reporters on this. I couldn't help it, and in my most stupid voice started walking around the house saying, "Duh...oh my gawd. Are day gonna stand or kneel!? Dis is sooo important!" My kids laughted and, eventually my wife said, "Funny at first. Now it's annoying." So, I stopped. You know...America is brain dead. Pro sports? That's what leads? Who in their right mind would give a damn what these idiots do? This story is so potent for the addled masses because it combines all the elements: symbolism, patriotism, race, police brutality... Don't worry about your kids' future - worry about some guy who's hair doesn't fit in his helmet taking a knee during the anthem. Does the rest of the world laugh at us all the time?

I just enjoy watching, and when I was young playing football recreationally (tackle, no pads in the fire path near my house with the neighborhood kids). As a company the NFL has the right to dictate their employees actions when at work. Even so, I find the matter appalling - the players as well as the NFL management. The NFL took tax dollars to have their anthem played and players be respectful. The government should be seeking a refund for the last year and halting future funding.

I'm done with the NFL (and I've spent good coin in the past to go to games, watch in bars, and apparel). The stupidity of the 1st Amendment argument is staggering and nauseating.
This policy shift is nothing more than the teams trying to salvage their fan base (aka their cash cow).

Lastly, I don't give a damn what most people think...and even less what the rest of the world thinks.

I too am done with the NFL. Roger Goddell is supporting George Soros funded organizations to appease the players. I have written Goddell twice with no response. Players like Steve Gleason from the Saints would give ANYTHING to be able to stand once more.

Waiting on the XFL. I think there are enough people fed-up with the NFL to give the XFL legs. I just hope Phoenix gets a team, we are the 8th largest market in the US.

The entitlements given to blacks by Obama are coming home to roost. At this point, there would have to esssentially be an non black league to avoid the entitlement craze. Blacks who have embraced entitlement are just to be ignored, at least in my view.

Who cares who laughs. at us. They tend to genuflect rather than defy when it comes to interaction.

I have a better solution. Just dont watch or attend NFL sports events. That will fix the situation real quick. If the rich blacks want to use an entertainment venue to promote their political views, instead of just using their abilities to get interviews and do the same, I wont watch them. A number of friends who were really into NFL are just bored with it now.

I've often thought that sports (and gambling) exist to give some interest to, otherwise, dull lives. The interest (and money) for sport team support is commensurate with the lack of an interesting life. And I have no problem with that as I've done it (Go Broncos).
