I thought the Bishop from America was horrible, he should have been pulled after the first 2 minutes, this was a wedding not a revival meeting.....

I find it funny that those who hate Trump and wish to tax the rich to death are the same who drool over the British "royalty," the pinnacle of elitism and entitlement.

We exorcised that spirit in 1776..well, some of us anyway, the ones who don't wear Che on their apparel or vote D.

There you go... never found any excitement in the Royals after a couple years in England (70-72) as a kid, although the British Museum put all others to shame, as well as their extensive records, even only at 10/11 years I got access to the records from the 1700's and found the original grant from the King to William Penn, and his subsequent deeds that defined the States of Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, and settled a 100 year old legal battle over the line. My uncle was the historian for Delaware and always thought there had to be one, and they said they couldn't find it. An elderly gentleman who volunteered there helped me get access and look through the files and they are amazing at how many there are. That was worth it.

Remember, this is the first wedding of a previously married American woman to a member of the British royal family. If it had occurred in 1936, I'm sure the couple would have been given the same warm reception. :-)

Is there really a correlation between leftist beliefs and fascination with the Royals? Are there studies which show this, or is it just your personal observation?

Personal observation. Although those elevated by the Nazi and the Communist party do/did love the institutions they profited from.
Socialists and communists do believe in a governing elite who doles out portion control for everyone and regulates business, just like the cough American cough left.

My guess slightly more than an observation.

    Bloody monarchists! ;^)
I will never understand the flattering fascination with a family that has stolen from the British people for hundreds of years and will continue to do so.

I recorded the wedding to watch later. Basically, I just wanted to see the bride's dress. But I did hear the sermon. As an Episcopalian, I was embarrassed for the man. A friend told me that she thought she was listening to Rev. Wright from Chicago.

Me dino can mucho comprehende how women can get into seeing dresses, weddings and such girlie stuff. That's cool.
Just after the wedding my eyes beheld on my PC an article and a lady in a photo who committed some silly faux pas.for showing up in a white dress and I'm all like "Who cares?" and clicked elsewhere.
Hours later I encountered that same article and being a little bored went straight to comments because sometimes those are good for a laugh.
About the third comment I read (to read no further) was that it was the bride who should not have worn white due to being previously married.
I recalled that my ex came with a stepson. No one gave a rip that she wore white.
These days if only virgins wore white, methinks most weddings would be a lot more colorful.
Anyway, that's the only bother I made with that oowee "news article."

I raised an eyebrow about a half of a centimeter when I saw the guest in the white dress, but rules aren't followed much anymore, so it is what it is.
LOL on your comment on weddings being more colorful.

When I took my future wife (and ex) to meet my parents five hours down the road, they gave us a room to spend the night together.
Myself born March 17, 1947, I'm wondering what's the date they as Catholic rabbits got--harrumph!--well, never mind.

I didn't watch it. I hate the concept of "royals". But, maybe I should watch this preacher. I noticed that the American news reported that the British in attendance were "impressed' with them...then they showed several Brits with wide eyes like "OMG". So, there must be some entertainment value there...haha...

Maybe the attraction to royalty is that for a few minutes a person can imagine that imagine being that important without have to do anything but be born.

In the USA, we do the same with celebrity since there is no royalty here

I thought the whole English royalty was diminished by the marriage to a person not of English heritage, another race, and an actress.

    Too bad for the english

I will never understand people's obsession with the British Royal family.

No matter what they do, people eat it up.

By all means, most of them if not all are truly boring. The latest "wedding" of this American woman into the family is a good example.

If at all, the Spanish Royals are much more exciting. Queen Letizia is a classy woman with excellent taste, mother of two beautiful girls, one of them, Leonor being the heir to the throne.

I find them intellectually more challenging than the Brits. But of course everyone has the right to admire his/her selected Royal.

If you have a script of the bishop's speech (which I cannot now find),
it could be interpreted as praise for fossil fuels with many references to the benefits of fire. !

In general, I can hardly contain my indifference, but in particular,
my grump is that my invitation has still not arrived.

First it wasn't merely a wedding, but a circus. An astonishingly boring circus. This preacher was one of the only refreshing entertainment in the whole creaky spectacle.Except when the choir sang "Stand By Me."My wife insisted that she wanted to see it so I joined her, but I kept falling asleep throughout. What a wonderful satire movie could be made of it if anyone had the nerve to do it.
