What Philosophical School Of Thought Do You Fall Into?
Me dino ran into this on a sidebar while considering something else to post.
Wonder if whoever put this "let's play" together ever heard of Ayn Rand.
From my responses~and I'm not an atheist~this programmed game concluded that I'm into Platonism.
I recall this Plato dude being a student of Socrates, the latter never writing about himself if I'm not mistaken.
Me dino read what Plato wrote about him at Troy State University way, way long time ago during the early 70s. .

Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!
The test itself is philosophically meaningless with its lack of definitions and standards and its ambiguous false-alternative questions. A similar test was posted here a while back (the same one hosted at the same or a different site?) and all this was discussed. Do I remember correctly that me-dino was chagrined to learn that he had been suckered by it then?
1) What is the meaning of Life?
2) What is Divinity?
3) What is Reality?
4) What happens after Death?
5) Are our lives Predetermined?
6) What is most important to you?
7) What word do others use to describe you?
8) What is the best way to describe your moral code?
9) What word would you use to describe yourself?
10) Is there a God or multiple Gods?
11) What question is most controversial to you?
This clearly wasn't any serious work put into this. It's for if you want to see how the quiz-maker views people ;)
It would have been more intellectually honest to ask, "Would you rather kill your wife with poison or by hanging?"
Why's that more honest? Well, it exposes its false set of choices more starkly.
I suspect that most modern philosophers and fans of philosophy consider the actual practice of philosophy to be a game, with no actual purpose in discovering how to live your own life. Those who see a necessity of getting a useful answer tend to go with religion.
(Amusing side note: the spell checker puts a red line under Objectivism.)
The first question, "What is the meaning of life?", is one that has long annoyed me. It's a perfect example of what Rand called "context dropping." Life is what makes "meaning" possible.
the only way of knowing is to study epistemology, reason, and logic...the rest is psycho-babble...
I think the quiz designer should take it again and unless he comes up an IDIOT then it has no useful meaning.
Me dino has decided to be more careful with what I post.
I will say, I didn't like ANY of the possible answers...none of them suited me.
Up until now, I've had the attitude that some posts blast off, some fizzle on the launching pad and not to over concern myself.
But I am definitely not one.
And just now it struck me dino that I should change the category from Philosophy to Humor.
Yes, that's far more appropriate.
Love the belated editing options we're allowed on this board.
I guess I’m an outside the box person.
