Another brilliant costly idea by government filed under, “You just can’t make this stuff up.” LA, California is starting to paint the streets white so the asphalt will not absorb as much heat. The heat will instead be reflected to the homes around the streets. Yet another costly project to help save the planet from global wa...climate change.

“The super highway to hell is paved with good intentions.”

Maybe they are doing it so you can more easily see the poop in the streets!

I was surprised to see on the news that Phoenix is considering doing this. The argument for is that it would prevent the roads from absorbing so much heat, and then releasing it, at night, thereby saving on energy use and consumption. Personally, I think its an idea with merit IF combined with tech to collect and rout the heat to power plants to create the steam necessary to generate heat (reducing the need to burn oil, coal, whatever to make the steam).

If you wish upon a star
It make a big difference where you are
As you pollute the world driving a car
    Kalifornia dreamers ain't so bright
Homeless droppings now a vivid sight
But may all your streets be pearly white.

I would not be surprised if they wanted to start another progressively innovative public works program and have everyone’s house painted completely white.
They could do this worldwide, on anything that’s dark. That will save the planet!
