Tenth Amendment Center | How Federal Surveillance and “Parallel Construction” Undermine the Rule of Law

Good summation and quite alarming. I read elsewhere that our government has, and likely still does, gather information gathered on Americans from the UKs agencies in exchange for information US agencies gather on UK citizens, circumventing the law.

It seems you can never stop watching every move of the government and that it never lives up to it's actual responsability to the American people.

"The process serves to hide the illegally gathered information, creating the illusion of a legitimate case."
I first heard about this after the PATRIOT act, where they retroactively build a case where they could have gotten evidence through legal means. I never understood how this was legal.

"Ironically, a lot of “law and order” Americans will simply shrug off gross violations of the supreme law of the land – the Constitution – if it serves to put some criminals in jail."
I've known for decades anyone saying "law and order" is for increased order, decreased respect for the law.

"Most telling, every single Republican member of the House Intelligence Committee voted to reauthorize Sec. 702, and in a heartwarming show of bipartisanship, six of the nine Democratic representatives on the committee joined their colleagues."
It sucks we have to chose between Republicans 100% supportive gov't spying on its citizens and Democrats who are 67% supportive of it.

"More states need to follow Michigan’s lead. If enough states begin to reject federal spying as a viable investigative tool, we can box them in and shut them down."
It's a shame the checks and balances in the Constitution are not doing the job. I'm glad Michigan's taking action.
