What I am pleased to see is that Facebook is taking it in the shorts for facilitating it and selling their customer's info without telling them.

I do not get why it's scandal either. Facebook's stated business plan is to provide a forum for people to interact and then to sell that information to those who want to reach out to specific groups. FB did that successfully.

There was something unethical and maybe illegal about the way campaign misrepresented it as academic research, but it's not a major scandal. Are people who see it as a major scandal saying if the campaign had only paid full price to reach those people it would have be fine?
