Now that you say that, I remember thinking it was pretty cheap to do that...I had an idea for a web site: A Little Birdy Told Me . com...but my boss talked me out of it.
He had more experience and I had just gotten my first computer...so I trusted him.

It lets you put a web site on the internet and to receive email to your own domain, e.g., olduglycarl.com OUC@olduglycarl.com
It does not take the place of your ISP, e.g., comcast.

My account is about $5 a month (paid 2 years in advance) for unlimited server space and bandwidth and I can host unlimited domain names and unlimited email addresses. (Truth is if I used a lot of resources-like had a busy online store- I'd have to upgrade and pay more, but I don't yet.) Check out a2hosting.com.

I use my own email server (no top secret documents, I swear) and Vivaldi to view webmail online before I download them using Claws-Mail for local storage.
Vivaldi allows you to use extensions for Chrome but does not load any by default. I have added AdBlockPlus and Ghostery extensions to Vivaldi.

Concrap is connected with chrome, they have had a server glitch (supposedly)
and was told this morn that I could finally get into my email if I installed GC.
(they don't like FireFox cause they can't spy on you so easily)...hopefully Vivaldi will protect the same way)

I recommend Vivaldi browser. It is developed by a founder of the Opera browser. (it is based on Chrome, but not controlled by Google Inc.)
