California high-speed rail more than double the cost and ten years late if funded

This is just funny, a bankruppt state with no resources (they have pretty much raped their population to death with taxes) wants to push on with a 200% increase in an already unaffordable boondoggle. I can see why China can do it for 1/3rd, they don't have Moonbeam Brown and a one party state where that party has the economic sense of a drunken sailor on liberty (sorry sailors)....

The notion of creating a high-speed transportation system is good, building an unbelievably expensive choo-choo is just plain stupid. Why are we (California, where I happen to live) pouring all of this money into antiquated technology? So Brown can go out with a bang, that's why. What we should be doing is investing in ET3 (Evacuated Tube Transport Technologies) and/or Hyperloop.

There you go, but you are missing the key thing that drives all this: who is in control. Moonbeam has no leverage over either of those technologies, so they want nothing to do with it and will put every obstacle they can in its way, especially if it is more efficient and does not allow the state a monopoly.

That is not the only "roadblock" impediment. Existing transportation industries will be greatly disrupted, if not completely replaced, by this and they will not go down without a fight. Sad, because they should embrace and support it to the benefit of all.

Well China does have a one party state, but they also have their own currency and can print as much as they want, and send anyone who disagrees to the gulag.
If HS rail was practical and economical, private business would do it.

Now there is a good point. It used to be government only got into something because it was too big for any one company and they didin't have the ability to find funds they do today. If it had a decent ROI, a group would do it. It also speaks to the huge leash that government has placed on a lot of things through regulations and imposing layers of money grabbing payoffs for fees, licenses and permissions, making it virtually a monopoly. So, now they think THEY and only THEY can do this, and YOU and YOU will pay for it "for your own good". Typical dysfunctional government.
