We Now Know Why Russia Wants a 100-Megaton Nuclear Torpedo

One has to wonder what is up with Vlad the Impaler and why he has apparently become such a dork to the US. Almost as if the previous administrations soothing Russia policies were just cover for his sneaky invasions into computers, hacking different places, all the while never being called out for it. Now they pretty much seem to want to have the "Final Solution", and imagine if these things, if autonomous, could be hacks to "accidentally" go off?

    There is a video of Putin answering questions about his "Empire Building", where he points out a few things:
    1) The US is putting Nuclear Missiles closer to Russias Borders (Poland, etc)
    2) These sites are POINTING at Russia
    3) Russia is NOT moving it's borders. (Crimea, BTW, Voted to secede from Ukraine, via their constitution, as Crimea was and is a KEY Naval base for Russia). ** (Yes, Putin claimed additional Ukrainian land on both the Russian, and Crimean Border. Argued as both PROOF of invasions, and also claiming military high ground depending on who you ask).
    4) Russia has NO interest in putting more countries into an old USSR style country. They peeled off the fat, and have plenty of Oil/Gas money to run the country.

    ==
    This is posturing, but it is important. The USSR went bankrupt trying to compete with the US Military Industrial Complex. Russia is not so stupid. their response: Develop a RESPONSE vector that is SO HORRENDOUS nobody will attack them. Don't focus on going to war. Focus on $$$, and Deals.

    Syria is NOT about Assad... It is Geographical Access. If the Saudis could get a pipeline through, they could compete with Russia in providing NatGas and Oil to Europe. RUSSIA sees this as a THREAT to their $$$ and their country (rightfully so, if you are fair minded), and PAY Assad to ensure this does not happen. Assad, IMO, seemed to be a decent leader until he became a war torn Syrian Leader.
    ==

    I had heard almost 10 years ago from my Russian Contacts that Russia had developed "Unstoppable Missiles" (First, they move too fast... Second they change course multiple times on the way to their target).

    This is a Hail Mary Missile. They will launch ALL of them. This is "MAD" by definition, which is what makes it effective. No Rational Actor will attack them.

    Also, UNSPOKEN, but true. Russia has kicked out many central bankers, including the Rothschilds.
    And they have begun BUYING their own "Federal Reserve" (Central Bank). I believe the number was 38% ownership. And Russia is set to become DEBT Free.

    NOW, ask yourself if you have EVER HEARD of a country taking off the Yoke of Debt to Central Bankers?
    (And surviving)... In this light, the attacks on Russia are CLEAR. The people who MOST Hate Russia right now (HRC onward) are ALL STINKING Globalists.
    ==
    I say... Let Russia be Russia (Not expanding their borders, but removing their debts, and making $$$ deals to build high speed rail across Europe, through China, etc. And they are doing this. And the globalists hate it. They are also selling OIL for Rubles/Yuan, which will get anybody killed)

      The above post- generally good.
      But the opinion on Assad cannot be left unchallenged. Both the current Assad and his father are and were bad news, even by middle-east standards, I do not think they have made a single decision that benefited anyone except their close family, and that would be short term only.

        Keeping in mind that when ruling the UNRULY, one probably has to be pretty extreme. But before a lot of this took place, he had 3 religions and they were NOT attacking each other. They had universities, etc.

        I wont be an apologist for him... But when the powers that be WANT what you have... I can promise you the media will label you (effectively), and the banter to attack will begin.

        Agreed, Assad has been a typical dictator, keep the cronies happy, kill your citizens if they become too big a bother. He has to go, but the Muslim fanatics are no better, that neck of the woods has very little in the choice department.

          Q: How is Assad a threat to my interests?
          A: He is not.
          The GOP (and the Dems) have been meddling in other countries' affairs for 3 decades and have destroyed the reputation of Americans.
          Stop meddling. It's counterproductive, insanely expensive, and unethical.
          Cut 700 billion a year from the military budget and to hell with the military industrial complex. They are a bigger threat than Assad.

    Just to set the record straight. Around 1960 the Soviet Union exploded the largest thermonuclear device ever when they set off the Czar-bomba. It was 57 megatons, the fireball was about 8 miles in diameter with the temperature of the surface of the sun. The mushroom cloud was 35 miles high.

    The bomb itself had little if any military value however it was loaded with propaganda value.

    Now, the current 100megaton behemoth has value for one thing militarily. If this super torpedo were fired against either coast say at the canyon off of New York, a massive tsunami would be unleashed perhaps 500' high. It could engulf the entire east coast and cause massive destruction miles in shore. Such a device must not be developed nor ever used!

      Well, lets look at this. If it is set off in anything but a closed estuary, will it not make a CIRCULAR Tsunami 500' high? Would not said Tsunami go out 360 degrees? Doesn't that mean Europe and Africa and all the islands in the Atlantic or Pacific are going to have a vested self interest in ensuring that they tell Russia "No, a thousand times no. If you are even hinted at deploying it, we will be at war? If not, time to just give up, the stupidity virus is too far entrenched.

        1.Does anyone think that a warning from Europe will have any effect at all regarding deployment if Russia's elite think they can safely deploy it?
        2. Europe can't afford a war with Russia. They need Russia's energy or their economy stalls and people freeze.

        The real danger here on the East Coast is that we have what is known as the "canyon" about 30 miles offshore from NYC.

        Such a device if exploded in that area could create a massive underwater landslide causing may great displacement of water by the collapse of the canyon wall. Such an event could be most catastrophic, not only for NYC but also for a good portion of the east coast.

        Another danger area is the island of I believe Tennerife where an entire side of a mountain could collapse into the the Atlantic ocean causing a massive tsunami that would engulf the entire East Coast of the US.

        Russia must not play this game because the consequences would be dire for the entire world!

    They all see how the development of nuclear weapons gives longevity to a regime. The bigger, the better. Look what it got North Korea. Now everyone wants the power they got.

    No one is really going to use these weapons, as the counterpunch would destroy them. We are spending too much time railing against North Korea when the LAST thing they would do is use one of their weapons against the USA. I wold personally convert N Korea to an inland sea if they did that- just give me the button to push. So would at least half of the people in the USA (except the liberals of course)

    Hmmmm....where/how do they test such a device.
    also, if the north american continent is destroyed, don't we have enough nuke capable submarines capable of putting more than a few nukes onto Russia.

      This is the point. Mutual Assured Destruction.
      Also, for the large devices, if you have a design that scales up, you don't have to test it.

      Here is a question for you to consider. If I take 100 Nuclear missiles, and wrap them around in a giant circle... Then I detonate the center one... How many go critical? they could have tested a TINY version of this, whereby they learned to stack the material properly to keep the thing cascading...

      The sad part will be when we find out they used OUR Nuclear material obtained from the Clintons!

    in the political world these comments from the likes of putin or trump our current pres are posturing.
    nothing is going to happen in the near or far future. it is time that all stop paying attention (paying is what we are doing) to these fools. the only thing that would happen if there was a war is population control in the usa, Russia and Europe. the poorest nations of the world, the meek would inherit the earth.

    Putin has the little man complex. Those torpedoes are phallic symbols for him to create a testoerone fused pissing match between Russia and the USA. Maybe the US Defence Dept. should do something simple like putting up anti-submarine nets like what was done during WW2. Even now our aircraft carriers are towing sensor cables to detect in coming torpedoes. On Google Patents there are designs for anti-torpedos cables to be towed by large naval vessels like what was towed by Liberty and Victory ships during WW2.

      Things have changed a wee bit since then, a lot of the ww2 stuff relied a lot on magnetics and that is defeated by using fiberglass and polymer plastics. This is one small thing (small being realative) in a very large ocean, the best bet is to find it's communications method and jam it, but it also means someone can hijack it if they can find the protocols used. Autonomous is a bad idea, because they are then out of your control. What if it's navigation gets hosed and it ends up beached like a whale on Nantucket? That would not go well....

    For the same reason I want some super high calorie fried sweet from the State Fair, even though I know I'll pay the price twice. Once when I pay for it and again when it makes me sick as a dog with rabies.
