They (CNN) have attendees read the lines written for them and then accept the ones who sound the most convincing.

That strikes me dino as a Communist National Network technique employed to polish messages of progressive (aka socialist) propaganda.

Just look at the recent shooting in Florida, the press coached the students on what to say and how to say it.

In the article, that student who appeared on Tucker Carlson revealed that at the town meeting CNN handed out out brief statements.
Me dino gathers that was because CNN wanted to pan kid after kid to create an overwhelming effect.
Also read that CNN denied what they actually did. Why would they deny the obvious?
The fantasized socialist utopian end goal always justifies the means, such as lying about what you're really up to, for Marxist wannabes.

If you missed it, one of the students took the opportunity to berate Marco Rubio and Dana Loesch without giving them a chance to respond. He basically insinuated that they were guilty of murder and got cheers from the audience for his statement, but the wording was not something that a 17-yr-old would have come up with. It was clearly scripted and absolutely despicable.

I've always been disturbed by the use of "Town Meeting" or "Town Hall Meeting" to name a political dog-and-pony show.

The term "Town Meeting" has a particular meaning in New England, where it is generally a legislative body consisting of the voters of a town. Annually at an appointed time, usually in March, the voters assemble to act on a "Warrant" of submitted articles. The rules of procedure and debate are much like those of other legislative assemblies, often based on Robert's Rules. A well-run Meeting can be astonishingly fair and effective, showing how democracy can properly work in a small government.

The use of the words "Town Meeting" outside of New England is generally misappropriation of the term. It's theft.

In a real Town Meeting the voters can question anything, if they do it properly. "I rise to a point of information. Can the speaker please re-explain for me how we are going to pay for his proposal?"

In a fake town meeting asking a question may well get you shut up or sent away. Only the politician who organized the event gets to speak.

George Orwell's 1984 Newspeak just right around the corner for the left wing national news media? The Orwellian media, politicians, & University Professors are really out to change our country. They are throwing everything at the educated middle America that we will think for you your voice doesn't matter. Go to your computers and cellphones we deluge your social media to see the world from their eyes. They spout inaccurate facts how firearms supposedly works and that nobody can protect you.
They are so wrong. This shooter wasn't wearing any body armor, so an officer or if there was an armed teacher who was able get 7-10 rounds from a 9mm, hell even a 380 and hit center mass from pelvis to sternum that shooter will either be incapacitated or dead. I conceal carry P32 Keltec pistol with a ten round mag, I can fire all ten rounds at 18ft. in little over a second and stitch a silhouette target from pelvis to sternum (slightly to the right, still need practice). Even through it's a smaller caliber round it will still hurt a perp.

I conceal carry a 9mm pocket pistol and I'm a trained shooter. My biggest weakness is forgetting to hold my breath.
With paper silhouette head and torso targets, breathing will cause me to miss the heart area and to start gut-shooting.
Just over a year ago I fired 9 shots at a silhouette target's head but all the rounds went through the throat. "Crap!" I cried. "I'm breathing again!"
Me dino will not trust my breathing in a real for really real scary situation. So one thing is for sure~I'll never aim at anyon'e groin.

I would side with the student given CNN's bias. When flipping through channels, I occasionally stop (briefly) at CNN and hear liberal drivel spouted by their yes people (is that politically correct?) or stooges, apologies to Moe, Larry, and Curly. Compared to the President's round table discussion with real questions, concerns, and proffered solutions, the CNN Town Hall was more like a Nazi rally in Munich where if you didn't join in on shouting, "Sieg Heil!", you were out, in this case asking questions or making statements which did not fit the politically correct liberal indoctrination, you were out. The assembled mob was easily induced to shout down the NRA speaker and a Senator; but when it was a student who had survived and had legitimate concerns CNN could not risk how uncomfortable things could turn, they took no chances of being embarrassed. One student changed that, he didn't go along and then exposed the lie!

A Town Hall Meeting implies that those involved are invited to discuss what merits any actions might have and what to do to solve a problem. It also suggests that it is willing to hear all sides and listen to information prior to making a decision. This "Town Hall" was organized to promote what the "news agency" would like to have accomplished not listen to individuals. That C(ommunist) N(ews) N(etwork) wants to script its reporting tells of its desire to manipulate news toward an agenda not report what happened, what people want to do or if they should be permitted to act as individuals to solve their problems.

      You are absolutely right.
That CNN-run "Town Hall Meeting" and all that it implied was a miserable scam that took advantage of victimized kids to advance political propaganda.
It was as much a gargantuan bald-faced lie as CNN arguing that their scam was not scripted. .

Can CNN be expected to do anything different these days? Can CNN be held liable for any of the garbage they spew, or the major facts they don't even report? Can I sue CNN and Nancy Pelosi because I took her advice on the stock market? (Actually I really didn't, but do I have to actually disclose that?) When you want to know the opposite of the truth you can count on CNN.

That's a good way to detect the truth where CNN is concerned. Call it a reversed compass technique.
When CNN says north, think south. When CNN says west, think east. Should CNN say, northwest, it's not that complicated to know that southeast is where your thinking should go.
But come to think of it, your thinking is better off for not messing with CNN at all.
