A lot of us have been under-estimating those Ruskies,
their advertising managed to 'effect' the election after the election occurred!
It actually was covered in the NYT last fall when Congress released some of the ads, but the political rhetoric from supporters and critics of President Trump consistently frame it as being all about Trump. Russia started the effort before they knew Trump was a serious candidate. After the election they ran ads for protests questioning the legitimacy of President Trump.
During the election they supported the candidates who condemned US institutions and/or said the election was fixed: Trump, Sanders, and Stein. I suspect they thought Clinton would win, and that have a plurality or near plurality of votes going to candidates who had questioned the fairness of the election would weaken Clinton and the US.
The fact that the winner of the election continued condemning it as unfair was a bonus they never dreamed of.
It's possible they wanted to be found out or that they wanted to control the time they were found out to keep American distrust of its institutions going.
It's impossible to replay history and work out what the vote count would have been without the Russian interference. Speculating about it plays right into their hands.
I think the Russian ads just helped along divisions that were already there, but I'm not sure. I think that because the monies we know they spent were not that much. I would think domestic ads and commentary would have more effect. But the Russian ads creep me out. I look at them and wonder if there's more going on.
The hollow heads on the left put it all on trumpet...that's what these creatures do...trumpet just should of laughed it off.
As far as the president doing anything about it now is mute...not his job, it's the DOJ and congresses job...and they just did it.
