Why rooting for Lindsey Vonn to fail is un-American

This is about a classic an article as you could ever ask for, to illustrate the medias skew, bias, and hijacking of any event for a way to repeat their left wing agenda. Read through it and there are so many slanted comments, and inserted tags such as "every single poll along the political spectrum shows that at least half of Americans disapprove of the president" in allying that statement to a skiers blurted out dislike for the president. Paragraph after paragraph appear to be about Lindsey Vonn, but are actually why you need to hate right wing people. This is worthy of Dr Goebbels....Should be used in teaching propaganda 101 classes.

Exactly right, nick. More divisive rubbish from Yahoo as expected.
As for the subject itself ...
Vonn said. “There’s so much hate in the world."
Look in the mirror, Lindsey. People in glass houses ...

Concentrate on the ONLY reason you were being interviewed at all, your ability in your sport. Making a spectacle of your political opinions are counterproductive to your chances of success.

"root for American athletes to lose to foreign countries simply because of what they’ve said"
Busbee, that is the same thing that Lindsey is doing, you incompetent hack propagandist.

If you don't read the news you are uninformed.
If you do, you are misinformed. -- Mark Twain

I LOVED Hearing that she failed. In fact, MOST of the athletes who said they wouldn't come to the white house, have actually EARNED the right of NOT being invited! Good on Them.

And whatever happened to cheering for the winner DESPITE what country they came from.
The sad part is that MOST gold medal winners from OTHER COUNTRIES would probably love to come to the White House and get their picture with POTUS.

For me, I rooted for my team as an American. But if I have the choice of winning by cheating, or by wishing ill will on other players... I am missing the point. IT IS NOT about the WINNING, but the STRIVING to be THE best, and YOUR best.

Of course, that last part flies in the face of our Social Justice Warriors!

BTW, what was the Venezuela Medal count for 2018 Winter Olympics... Oh, never mind, apparently the runners ran to another country where the FOOD WAS hiding!

It was Lindsey Vonn who decided to bring her personal politics into the Olympics because the teams are representatives of the country and in her case not President Trump. Jimmy Carter interfered in the game when he made a political decision in 1980 by not allowing our team to go to Moscow, that was and still is an outrageous decision which hurt many of the athletes who had worked the four years since Montreal to be ready. In 1984 the Soviet team did not attend the games at Los Angeles. My second thought is that Donald Trump as President of the United States is the elected representative of WE THE PEOPLE whether you personally like or dislike him, therefore to refuse an invitation to the White House is a rejection of the PEOPLE for whom he is the representative and spokesperson.

Ayn Rand taught me that the beauty of capitalism is that money does not care about one's political, religious, gender or other characteristics/preferences. It only cares about mutually and freely agreed on value for value. So the question is worth asking: why should I care about anything Lindsey Vonn except her sports-entertainment value to me?

Meh, I won't root against her in any way. Even so It pisses me off to see these people bringing politics into their "game" particularly when they are supposed to represent the country. I've noticed that few Americans actually have any insignia or marking depicting their country, very disappointing.

I was thinking that a while back, and I haven't cared about any sports for about 20 years or more now as it becomes more greedy, money driven, and political.

        Ditto, nick.
I don't think of them (except when someone reminds me of it;^)
P155 on the olympics- its nothing but a forum for statist divisive propaganda. Has been that way for decades.

Maybe all this has something to do with this year's declining viewership of the Olympics. Injecting partisan politics into sports make the sports themselves less engaging, especially for those who do not agree with the athletes' political views.

This just shows that political bias runs both ways.
People are being taught to dislike those who merely disagree with them, not just dislike some of what they say.

But if Vonn was willing to stick her neck out, then she has to ignore the response if she is to perform well.

The most interesting thing to me is the lack of any mention of an issue. To me that's a glaring unexplained phenomenon. What exactly are these fans booing or not booing about? I find the high anger-to-substance ratio interesting and concerning.

Emotional response is what makes the world go round today...

Yes. I agree. And what's more, it used to be "bring the troops home", "people who are milking social programs unfairly," "how can we lock up more of our population for non-violent offenses than any other country?", "there are communists two days' drive away, so we cannot just ignore it," "if we don't do more to help needy children, they become a burden or threat to society when they grow up."

People got emotional, but I knew they were getting emotional about. In this article, it's President Trump or President Obama. It's not their policies. It's the notion they're like the devil or an the Nazis, and any thing they say or do gets woven into something diabolical. In this article, they don't even mention the diabolical plan or anything. It's just political figures. I can't fathom why anyone cares.

It's like I'm from another planet from these people because I think we got a complete clown for a president, yet the policies are similar enough to what I expected from the candidate I voted for (Hillary Clinton) that I don't really care. Gary Johnson was my first choice, and if it's him vs Clinton or Trump, I get the cause for emotion. President Trump acts like a complete jackass, and the results are mostly the same as if my first choice among the major candidates were president.

So in my "Martian" view of it, these people are upset about nothing.

It is so sad that even the Olympics gets mired in politics. I just wish these trolls and the media jerk could be sent to the Phantom Zone. It seem that Motorsports (which I enjoy watching) is still somewhat safe from politics.

I always thought of the Olympics as individual sports in the snow events. As such, I was happy to see Vonn lose and did not see it as "un-American" or "un-tribal."

I personally don't root for people to fail in athletic events. If your evaluation of whether something is moral or not is left up to the final score of an athletic contest, I can only shake my head and walk away.

What I can hope is that athletes AND fans alike will take the time to study out moral issues and come to an informed understanding on them that they can then discuss rationally. Far too many, however, speak what they think people want to hear (Dixie Chicks, anyone? or NFL "take-a-knee" Colin Kapaernick) and then find out that social justice warriors don't make good entertainers - especially on the Left.

Why isn't Vonn wearing black like the PC idiot actors do at televised awards ceremonies?
Oh, me dino knows! It's a Winter Olympics uniform thing. So maybe she's at least wearing black long johns to ward off the cold.
Also maybe~should she win gold, silver or bronze~Vonn will hold up her prize and make some "Dump Trump" statement to the delight of libtards everywhere.

And now NBC just hired Adam Rippon, the ice skater who blasted Pence. Also noticed yesterday that a gay skaters family was holding up the rainbow flag and not the American Flag at the games. What kind of message does that send the rest of the world.

Yep, but now there is the" No I didn't" response. Not that I care, just amused at how disjointed and "whiny" the MSM gets year after year as they cater to noisy and disjointed people.

Yes I saw that this morning. I wonder if keeping his Olympic Credentials was the real cause or maybe NBC was getting complaints (not that they would ever admit that)
