As an Artist I find this choice to be more of a middle finger to reason and race relations than to recognize someone's talent.
The unveiling of former President Barack Obama’s official portrait on 12 February 2018 also introduced many Americans to artist Kehinde Wiley for the first time as well, as opening the door to late-breaking controversy over some of Wiley’s earlier work.
Wiley, who has described his own visual style as “bombastic, syrupy, and garish,” is celebrated in the contemporary art world for his large-scale portraits of black and brown men and women striking heroic poses modeled on those of aristocrats in classic European paintings.

For reasonably decent artists who find how crooked the shows and studios can be, she suggests they look into doing animal portraits. There are a lot of owners of pets, including horse owners, who would really like a good portrait of a beloved pet, but find it hard to locate a willing artist. Horse owners in particular pay a good fee for a portrait.

The thing that really sticks in my craw about this, is that Obama by his very position as a former President legitimizes this sick person. Essentially Obama signs off on EVERYTHING that he has ever created and by extension so does the Left.
So therefore the Left believes that it is OK to depict the murder of a White woman as long as it glorifies a Black man.
