I heard a good interview this morning on the radio regarding Gowdy and several other elected officials leaving office. The interviewee was stating that many of the politicians are so beholden to their party that they're putting Party over Nation. This means they're spending upwards of 40% of their time just doing fundraising (apparently politics is fully driven by how much money one can raise for the party). If the politician shows any inkling of not being in lockstep with Party officials, they're on the outs. As time has gone on, more have become disillusioned with the prevalent 'us or them' attitude within their party, they no longer feel their time spent in Washington is achieving anything positive.

Seems that when we're talking about politicians, only the good go away young.
Yeah, what our Founding Fathers had in mind for senators and representatives in the first place..
But new words and concepts evolve as centuries pass by~
    A pension plan? What's a pension plan?
Perks? Rhymes with jerks, but what's a perk?
To which Dingy Harry retorts, "Aw, shut up, George. What do you know?"

If he were to become AG that would be great. But he needs to keep in he game as he does give us hope that our nation can be turned around. We must save our nation as too many have given their lives for us to let them down.

Too bad for the country. He was one of the politicians that I think I can trust. I really don't think he'll be back in the political ranks unless possibly SCOTUS sometime in the future, sometime long after I leave the bounds of this earth.

as a simple member of the public eye, I'm both surprised and disgusted that the efforts of getting elected into politics "to make changes in the areas we would identify needing our help" is squashed by "how can I keep my status quo and stay elected year after year" that dominates the "industry" of politics, so much so that politicians must sell their soul to stay on the inside of their affiliation and keep the party rolling. I keep asking myself, if I ever chose to run and got elected to a major political office, would I just fall in line with the rest and do as the party commanded me (as I believe the current state of affairs to be like), or would I be happy to do the things I set out to do (whether I failed or succeeded), and just be happy to turn in a one term election and go back to my private life thereafter.

Honest and Politician should never be used in the same sentence. The Honest ones arrive in DC with good intentions and find out in short order they are barking at the moon if they don't get in line. Gowdy can make a ton more money doing what he does in the private sector and it will be legitimate rewards.

This seems a bit off, as he always questions the veracity of most investigations, usually pointing out their failures in excruciating detail. Maybe Trey has just lost it, but after Mueller hired nothing but Clinton Cronies and Obamaites, I can't believe this is a fair investigation:

Not to mention that there doesn't actually seem to be a subject for the investigation. He seems to have been given a letter of Marque to capture members of the administration for any reason over any time frame.

There being obviously no Russian collusion it's either that or say, "all clear".
