"Former FBI Director James B. Comey ’82 will teach a three-credit course on ethical leadership for William & Mary starting this fall...

"'Jim Comey is among William & Mary’s most distinguished alumni,' said W&M President Taylor Reveley... 'He understands to the core of his being that our leaders must have an abiding commitment to ethical behavior and sacrificial service if we are to have good government...

"Comey graduated from William & Mary as a double major in chemistry and religion."

In a related appointment, Br'er Wolf has been appointed to teach a biology course on ethical breeding and sacrifice of chickens.

This reminds me of the time Boeing had its big sexual harassment scandal. Part of the "fix" was to gather all of their subcontractors together and deliver a speech on the wrongs of sex abuse. I couldn't help myself, and told the "ethics coach" that I felt we were getting a lecture on chastity from the owner of a bordello.

The real question is what kind of ethics he's going to teach! He'd be the perfect teacher for how to get around and subvert the Justice system!

We know what kind of ethics he will teach. It's Pragmatist ends justifies the means "ethical leadership" by and for progressives like Comey. Subverting the Justice system to exploit the FBI as a secret police to support progressive politicians and subvert their political enemies is only one example.

That is what is behind their gobbledygook description of the course: "Students in the course will use historical texts and contemporary critical theory to 'map historical narrative and contemporary dominant leadership paradigms with leadership in public policy and citizen engagement.'" That tells you enough to know (if anyone here already did not know) that it is the opposite of anything like Ayn Rand's objective ethics.

Hopefully Comey will be in jail before the fall, and W & M will realize he is politically incorrect.

Jefferson's alma mater has fallen far.

W&M would recognize nothing of the kind. They would celebrate him as a martyr and a monument to "Restore Br'er Wolf habitat" in the name of ethics.

But the new category of political crimes exempting crimes committed on behalf of progressive power politics practically guarantees that none of them will be indicted, let alone punished.

The problem with "ethics" is that most people in America think of ethics in the classical description of Christian ethics and this is fallacious. I remember from my ethics class in college that basically anything a person chooses to do can be considered ethical. Crazy as this may sound there are myriad different schools of ethics each allowing and disallowing various behaviors. The trick to be considered ethical or to live ethically is to adhere to a single school of ethics so that your actions are consistent.

With this said I am well aware that most people operate under situational ethics. Basically doing whatever the situation calls for whether or not it falls within their claimed school of ethics.

Additionally Liberals especially those in any position of power typically follow a "me first" school of ethics. Therefore, I can easily see Comey as a professor of ethics. Sadly I am certain that he will advance the Liberal agenda of indoctrinating more into their sick way of life.

I guess those "Liberals" would be described in an article by Ayn Rand inThe Ayn Rand Letter (published for awhile in the 1970's) entitled "Selfish-
      ness Without a Self".

That 1973 article is also in the anthology Philosophy: Who Needs It?. It is a follow up to and is based on her previous article "The Missing Link" dealing with what she called the anti-conceptual mentality and its role in tribalism, in contrast to fully human conceptual thought and independence.

The "lone wolf" described in "Selfishness Without a Self" is the anti-conceptual tribalist mentality that isn't even reliable enough, and is too crude, to function in, or rule over, a tribe. It is the opposite of Ayn Rand's concept of selfishness, which the vague term "me first" does not distinguish between. Power seekers like Comey are not what she called the "lone wolf". He is certainly the anti-conceptual mentality but is thoroughly entrenched among the establishment progressives and their tribalist functioning.
